REPORT: EDGAR CHAIREZ/DANIEL DA SILVA II SET FOR FEBRUARY 24 UFC CARD

By David Tees on 11/21/2023 10:47 AM

A flyweight division rematch has been added to the February 24 UFC Fight Night card according to Carlos Contreras Legaspi as Edgar Chairez again faces Daniel Da Silva.

Chairez (10-5-0-1NC) is winless thus far under the UFC banner, dropping a fight to Tetsuro Taira and fighting Daniel Da Silva to a no contest. Chairez is a former Fury FC Flyweight Champion, but he relinquished the title upon signing with the UFC earlier this year. Chairez also competed on Dana White’s Contender Series, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Clayton Carpenter during the 2022 season.

Da Silva (11-5-0-1NC) has gone 0-5-0-1NC during his UFC tenure, dropping fights to Jeff Molina, Francisco Figueiredo, Victor Altamirano and CJ Vegara, while also fighting Chairez to a no contest in their first meeting. Da Silva hasn’t picked up a win in over two years, with that last win coming over Rodrigo Dos Santos Sarafian Lobato at Shooto Brazil 107. Da Silva has competed 17 times as a professional MMA fighter and none of his bouts have gone the distance.

UFC Fight Night is scheduled for Saturday, February 24 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
