By David Tees on 11/28/2023 10:58 AM

Former two-time UFC champion Conor McGregor has found himself on the wrong side of the law many times, but this potential new allegation is one the fighter has never faced before.

According to a report from the Sunday Times (via Blaze Media), assistant Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly is leading an investigation into McGregor for allegedly using hate speech online.

McGregor, a short time after two young children and their caregiver were stabbed multiple times by a person of alleged Algerian origin, would post the following on X:

The report from the Sunday Times states that the 5 year old victim is fighting for her life, hospitalized with “catastrophic” injuries, while the 6 year old suffered less serious injuries and the caregiver is still in serious condition.

Riots have taken place in Ireland following the incident, which led to police commissioner Drew Harris calling the riots a "complete lunatic faction driven by far-right ideology."

McGregor’s coach in John Kavanagh also had an exchange on X with McGregor (via Blaze Media):

Kavanagh: "So what should happen with this demented scumbag who attacked women and kids today?"

McGregor: "Torture and death."

Michael Martin, who is an Irish deputy Prime Minister, stated that McGregor’s comments were “disgraceful.”

That led to McGregor issuing the following response on X:

The Irish government is currently trying to pass, what some have deemed controversial, hate speech laws, which is where McGregor could potentially find himself in serious legal issues.

There has been no further comment from McGregor on the matter as of this writing.
