A lightweight division attraction, originally set for UFC Austin, has been rescheduled for UFC Fight Night 233 according to MMA Melotto as Melquizael Costa faces Steve Garcia.
Costa (20-6-0) has won just one of two under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Austin Lingo at UFC On ESPN 49. Costa also competed twice in the Legacy Fighting Alliance, defeating Jose Cleiton De Melo Jr. and suffering a defeat to Italo Gomes. Costa has competed a total of 26 times as a professional MMA fighter and 10 of those bouts have gone the distance.
Garcia (14-5-0) is the reason the first booking was pulled from UFC Austin, as the fighter fell ill on the day of the weigh-ins. Garcia has won three of five thus far in the UFC, with those wins coming over Charlie Ontiveros, Chase Hooper and Nuerdanbieke Shayilan. Garcia has earned 14 wins as a professional MMA fighter and 11 of those have come by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night 233 takes place on Saturday, December 9 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Song Yadong and Chris Gutierrez headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
