Next weekend’s UFC 296 card has taken a hit because Damon Martin of MMA Fighting is reporting that Giga Chikadze has been pulled from a fight against Josh Emmett. MMA Junkie has reported that an undisclosed injury is the reason Chikadze isn’t fighting at UFC 296.
Emmett is expected to remain on the card at this time, as UFC officials have under two weeks to find him a replacement opponent.
UFC 296 takes place on Saturday, December 19 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Leon Edwards and Colby Covington headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
Update: Giga Chikadze has posted a video on X, showing how he suffered the groin injury that caused him to pull out of UFC 296.
