A flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 299 according to First Round Management (via Marcel Dorff) as CJ Vergara faces Assu Almabayev.
Vergara (12-4-1) enters the contest riding a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Daniel Da Silva and Vinicius Salvador. Vergara hasn’t been defeated in over a year, with that last loss coming to Tatsuro Taira at UFC Fight Night 212 in October of 2022. Vergara has earned 12 wins as a professional MMA fighter and seven of them have come by way of KO/TKO.
Almabayev (18-2-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, having defeated Ode Osbourne by second round submission at UFC On ESPN 50. Almabayev enters the contest on a 14 fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in over six years. Almabayev has picked up 18 wins as a professional MMA fighter and half of them have come by way of submission.
