A women’s flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 299 according to Alex Behunin as #4 Katlyn Chookagian faces #7 Maycee Barber.
Chookagian (18-5-0) has won four of her last five in the UFC, with those wins coming over Cynthia Calvillo, Viviane Araujo, Jennifer Maia and Amanda Ribas. Chookagian is competing for the first time in over a year, as her last bout happened at UFC 280 in October of 2022. Chookagian had previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Title, losing to then champion Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 247.
Barber (13-2-0) enters the bout riding a five fight winning streak, having defeated Miranda Maverick, Montana De La Rosa, Jessica Eye, Andrea Lee and Amanda Ribas. Barber hasn’t been defeated in almost three years, with her last loss coming to Alexa Grasso at UFC 258 in February of 2021. Barber has competed 15 times as a professional MMA fighter and seven of those bouts have gone the distance.
