Josh Emmett needed a new opponent for UFC 296 after the withdrawal of Giga Chikadze and now he has one because MagicM_MMABets has revealed that Bryce Mitchell has accepted the short notice opportunity.
Emmett (18-4-0) enters the fight on a two bout losing streak, with those losses coming to Yair Rodriguez and Ilia Topuria. Emmett has previously competed for the UFC Interim Featherweight Title, losing to the aforementioned Rodriguez at UFC 284. Emmett hasn’t won a fight in over a year, with his last win coming at UFC On ESPN 37 in June of 2022.
Mitchell (16-1-0) has won seven of eight under the UFC banner, with notable wins coming over Charles Rose, Andre Fili, Edson Barbosa and Dan Ige. Mitchell has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to Ilia Topuria at UFC 282. Mitchell has earned 16 wins as a professional MMA fighter and nine of them have come by way of submission.
UFC 296 takes place on Saturday, December 16 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Leon Edwards and Colby Covington headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
