Gabriel Santos will no longer be competing on the January 13 UFC Fight Night card according to Laerte Viana (via Marcel Dorff), replacing him against Westin Wilson is Jean Silva.
Wilson (16-8-0) is winless thus far in UFC competition, having dropped a bout to Joanderson Brito at UFC On ESPN 48. Wilson has seen his last 12 fights end within the first round and it has been over four years since the fighter fought past round one. Wilson has competed 24 times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those encounters went the distance.
Silva (11-2-0) is making his UFC debut in this encounter and does so on the strength of an eight fight winning streak. Silva competed on Dana White’s Contender Series, defeating Kevin Vallejos by unanimous decision during the 2023 season. Silva has earned 11 wins as a professional MMA fighter and nine of those came by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night: Ankalaev vs. Walker II is set for Saturday, January 13 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Magomed Ankalaev and Johnny Walker headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
