Former UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya hasn’t competed since he lost the gold to Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 293.
The former champion, after the title loss, said he wanted to take some time away from the sport, but it appears that he may now be on the comeback trail.
“My last few fights, I had four fights in 14 months as a champion in the UFC,” Adesanya said to iFL TV (transcript via Nolan King of MMA Junkie). “I was the most active champion, not fighter, champion, in the league. Life has forced me to take some time off and I will. But you will see me soon. I said 2027 and the retards out there actually thought I meant that, but you’ll see.”
Strickland will be defending the gold next against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297, so a potential title rematch for Adesanya could be out of the question for the time being.
