DANA WHITE SAYS PEOPLE WENT CRAZY WHEN THEY FOUND OUT HOW MUCH CM PUNK WAS PAID BY THE UFC

There was a time when former multi-time WWE and AEW Champion CM Punk competed in the UFC, going 0-1-0-1NC during his brief run with the promotion and as an MMA fighter altogether.

Federal judge Richard Boulware recently unsealed several court documents featuring UFC DEO Dana White’s comments from a 2017 deposition on an anti-trust lawsuit against the UFC and White said that he knows the UFC fighters talk among themselves about their payouts from the promotion.

“All the fighters know what other fighters are making,” White said (via MMA Fighting). “They all talk. They all know. Even guys who say they don’t want their number out there, they tell.”

Punk reportedly made $500,000 per UFC fight, but according to experts who are a part of the anti-trust lawsuit, Punk may have actually made $1,042,736 just for his UFC debut against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September of 2016, which Punk lost via first round submission in just 2:14 of said round. That would mean that Punk made approximate $7,781.61 per second of that fight, which was both his professional MMA and UFC debut.

White, in the deposition, admitted that people went crazy when finding out how much Punk was making in the UFC:

“It just happened recently again, too,” White said in the deposition. “We had some guy that was — that was paid a certain amount of money and never — oh, the professional wrestler that we brought in. Not Brock [Lesnar], the other one.”

“CM Punk?” the attorney asked.

“Oh, yeah,” White replied. “People went crazy when they saw what he got paid. ... Even the women.”
