Former UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya was accused of driving drunk on August 19 of 2023 in Auckland, New Zealand.
Stuff.co.nz has now reported that the former champion has pleaded guilty to the crime this past September and has also issued a public apology. Adesanya’s lawyer argued that any kind of conviction could affect the fighter’s personal and professional life, plus the lawyer argued that Adesanya could suffering financially as well.
The judge then ruled that Adesanya’s drivers license be suspended for six months, pay a fine of $1,500 and complete an anti-drunk driving program.
Adesanya has yet to comment publicly on the judge’s ruling.
