Mayra Bueno Silva suffered a unanimous decision loss to Raquel Pennington in the co-main event of UFC 297, with the loss awarding Pennington the women’s bantamweight title.

Losing the title wasn't the only thing that happened to Silva at UFC 297, as the fighter says she also suffered an ear injury during the bout as well.

“I had a minor ear injury, but aside from that, I feel great and ready to come back,” Silva said to MMA Fighting. “Raquel hit me hard in the ear and partially tore my eardrum and I kind of lost balance. But it’s part of the game.”

Silva will now have to wait to see what unfolds next at women’s bantamweight, as former champion Julianna Pena is expected to get the next crack at Pennington.

The one-time title challenger credits Pennington for landing the blow that caused the ear injury at UFC 297.

“I couldn’t read the fight and know what was happening after the strike [that caused the injury],” Silva said. “Kudos to her for landing a good strike that took me out of the fight. I’m still licking my wounds and had no time to analyze the fight and know what went wrong yet. We’re still kind of on a hangover.”
