Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has become the next MMA fighter to make the leap to professional boxing and he makes his pro boxing debut against Shannon Briggs on Saturday, June 1.

Rampage announced the news on X:

Sayan Nag of Sherdog provided the following transcript of what Rampage said in the video posted on X:

“I finally got the contract. It’s been over two years in the making of me hearing Mr. Shannon Briggs’ mouth. I get to shut him up once and for all in Qatar, on June 1. I got to sign this contract. Shannon, you’re going to regret even calling me out all those years ago and you’ve been posting just ungodly videos of me, tagging me in ungodly videos, and I just endured it. I got the contract. Thank, God. I’m going to shut your mouth once and for all. Sign this sh*t.”

Briggs has competed 68 times as a professional boxer, having previously held the IBU Heavyweight Title, WBC FECARBOX Heavyweight Title, NABA Heavyweight Title, NABO Heavyweight Title, USBA Heavyweight Title, WBO Heavyweight Title, WBC Latino Heavyweight Title and WBC Interim Latino Heavyweight Title.

Jackson, who has no prior pro boxing experience, has competed 52 times as a pro MMA fighter, capturing the UFC Light Heavyweight Title and the KOTC Light Heavyweight Superfight Title, while also winning the Bellator season 10 light heavyweight tournament.

No other fights have been announced for the Briggs vs. Jackson card at this time.
