Hyder Amil needed a new opponent for UFC Fight Night 236 after the withdrawal of Melsik Baghdasaryan and now he has one because Marcel Dorff is reporting that Fernie Garcia has accepted the short notice opportunity.
Garcia (10-4-0) is winless under the UFC banner, having dropped fights to Journey Newson, Brady Hiestand and Rinya Nakamura. Garcia competed on Dana White’s Contender Series, defeating Joshus Weems by first round TKO during the 2021 season. Garcia has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came by way of decision.
Amil (8-0-0) is making his UFC debut in this encounter and does so with an undefeated streak that has lasted over six years. Amil also competed on Dana White’s Contender Series, defeating Emrah Sonmez by unanimous decision during the 2023 season. Amil has earned eight wins as a professional MMA fighter and four of them have come by way of KO/TKO.
