UWC RETURNING TO NEW EGYPT, NJ, IRON MIKE SHARPE & MORE NAMED TO UWC HALL OF FAME

By Mike Johnson on 3/3/2024 7:52 AM

The United Wrestling Coalition returns to New Egypt, New Jersey on March 16, 2024, at the American Legion for our 28th Anniversary Event featuring action-packed live professional wrestling, a historical display of event posters, photos, and other memorabilia from the years past, and the 2024 UWC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony! Doors open at 6:30 with a 7:00 p.m. bell time. Tickets are available at the door, or call/text 609-792-9328 to reserve your seats in advance. General admission is $20, and for kids under 5 years old, it's just $5! All UWC events are 100% family friendly and geared to entertain fans young and old.

On March 16, current UWC Hall of Famers George Pinaha, The Orphan, Billy Lassiter, The Ripper, Mark “The Cannon” Melaccio, “Mr. 500” Joe Rules, Silly Billy, Vinny DeMarco, Jeff The Booker, Mighty Mo, Reckless Youth, The "Olympian" Dave Patera, Patricia M. Steinman, Matt Storm, Luxurious Lynne, Rick Silver, Preston Montgomery, Esq., Daisy, X-Ray Stevens, Taylor Nicole, "The One" Geoffrey Bravo, the late Charlotte Flock, and Mr. Black will be joined by five new inductees. Who will be in the UWC Hall of Fame Class of 2024?

"IRON" MIKE SHARPE. Known as "Canada's Greatest Athlete," "Iron" Mike Sharpe made his professional wrestling debut in 1973. In 1983 he entered the World Wrestling Federation. He wore a black brace on his right forearm due to a nagging injury (or possibly to conceal a foreign object?). While Sharpe is most remembered for his appearances on Superstars of Wrestling and Wrestling Challenge, he was managed for a time by Capt'n Lou Albano and wrestled Bob Backlund for the World Heavyweight Title at the Philadelphia Spectrum. He was also Hulk Hogan's tag team partner in New Japan Pro Wrestling. After his retirement from the ring, he opened Mike Sharpe's School of Pro-Wrestling in Brick, New Jersey and later in Asbury Park, New Jersey where he trained many wrestlers, including Crowbar, The Haas Brothers, Ace Darling, Simon Dean, as well as UWC wrestlers Billy Lassiter, The Ripper, The Orphan, Silly Billy, Mark Melaccio, Matt Storm, Bobby Piper, Warhead, and many others. Sadly, Mike Sharpe passed away in 2016 at the age of 64.

THE HOLLYWOOD HOOLIGAN. One half of The Perfect Hooligans (with Kurt Bale) and one third of Lost In Hollywood (with Bale and Lost Boy Kirby), The Hollywood Hooligan first appeared in the UWC in June of 2018. He and Bale would go on to defeat The Homeless Heroes for the United Wrestling Coalition Tag Team Championship on December 7, 2019, and they held the title for a record-shattering 1,190 days before dropping the belts to Tommy Salami & Grim on March 11, 2023. The Hooligan decided to hang it up later that year, and his final match was a spectacular bout with World Heavyweight Champion Tony Chini in October. The Hollywood Hooligan was in the UWC for exactly 1,967 days, and he held the tag team championship for 60.5% of that time!

SUSANNA. Susanna debuted in May of 1999 as the UWC's first successful female manager, managing the likes of Billy Lassiter, The Ripper, Matt Storm, Bobby Piper, and Tundra at various times. In addition to managing, Susanna also competed in four matches in the UWC. She spoiled Joe Rules' first appearance in UWC, defeating him in an evening gown match, and defeating him again in a rematch in New Lisbon. She teamed with Matt Storm and Tundra but lost to The Unholy Alliance of Lassiter, Ripper, and Piper. In her final bout, Susanna and Allison Danger wrestled to a no contest on May 5, 2002.

OFFICER BIG. Frank McNew, Jr. started as a UWC Super Fan who wanted to become more involved. Every year UWC would enter the Medford Parade and one year, Frank started walking behind the parade float and introduced himself. Not long after that, he expressed an interest in becoming a manager. He worked on the ring crew and spent the next year training with Warhead, and listening to stories from Billy Lassiter and The Ripper. He debuted as Officer Big in May 2003. He was the manager of Cell Block Four. Frank loved everything about UWC, but especially the family-friendly style that made it a safe place to bring his children. Every year he would donate bags of toys and always a bicycle or two for the annual Toys for Tots Events. As years passed, Frank moved out of state but always kept in touch. His final appearance as Officer Big was in February of 2010. Sadly, Frank passed away from cancer at the young age of 51.

"CHOP DADDY" BIGGIE BIGGS. One of the United Wrestling Coalition's most popular competitors of all time, Biggie Biggs debuted in the UWC in May of 1998. He is the only three-time Heavyweight Champion in company history. He first won the title on May 15, 2010, when he defeated Legion. He held onto the belt for 42 days before losing it to Twiggy Ramirez. His second championship reign began on December 4, 2010, beating Twiggy and Reckless Youth in a three-way bout. That reign would last until June 4, 2011, when he lost to Geoffrey Bravo. Between his second and third Heavyweight Title reigns, he and Silly Billy, known as The Big Sillies, captured the tag team title in December 2012 and held it for just over a month. On September 19, 2020, accompanied by Daisy, The Chop Daddy pinned Mr. Spectrum to win the Heavyweight Title for a record-setting third time! Unfortunately, due to injuries, Biggie Biggs announced his retirement and relinquished the belt on September 30, 2021. His last UWC appearance was earlier that month, September 4, 2021, in a successful title defense against Adonis Valerio.

Please join us March 16 at the American Legion in New Egypt, New Jersey as we welcome "Iron" Mike Sharpe, The Hollywood Hooligan, Susanna, Officer Bigg, and "Chop Daddy" Biggie Biggs to the United Wrestling Coalition Hall of Fame Class of 2024!

In the main event March 16 in New Egypt, Kurt Bale returns to challenge Tony Chini, accompanied by Francesca, for the UWC World Heavyweight Championship! There is unfinished business between these two competitors. They previously fought last April in Bordentown, and after the bout, Chini offered a handshake in a show of good sportsmanship, but Bale took the opportunity to deliver a superkick! Tony Chini is looking to dish out some payback, and Kurt Bale is looking to get his hands on the gold. Who will emerge victorious?

At our last event, Flash Carter was disqualified when he instinctively used his Rainbow Cutter (a maneuver banned in the American Legion) on "Woah Daddy" Andd Bivians. Because a title can only change hands via pinfall or submission, Flash Carter retained the United States Championship. A rematch will take place on March 16 with the following stipulations: The Rainbow Cutter will result in a DQ, but for one night only, so will Bivians' variant of the DDT; for this bout, the title can change by disqualification; if Andd Bivians wins, he will once again become US Champion, but if Flash Carter wins, the Rainbow Cutter will be reinstated! As you can see, the stakes are high, so don't you dare miss this one!

In an epic six-man tag team bout on March 16 at the New Egypt American Legion, Payne's Gate—The "Leader" Kyle Payne & Tag Team Champions The "Jekyll" Lawrence Spiral & Bryan Haden with "Strange and Unusual" Eris Spiral and Shelby will do battle with "Florida Man" Nate Mustang & the former tag champs The Stepdads—"Rad Dad" Radley Belmont & "Poppa Bear" Wade Krueger! This one promises to be a real Pier Sixer!

Other UWC favorites scheduled to appear March 16 in New Egypt, New Jersey include "Big Poppa Parm" Joey Angelo, "Brilliant" Bobby Banks with Craig Z-List, Sir Blue Knight, The Co-Op—Jay "The Key" Evans & MISTER Spectrum & The Gargantuan with Mr. Black, Jack Maertens, and more!

Remember, UWC returns to New Egypt at McKaig-Test-Mullen American Legion Post 455, 2 Meadowbrook Lane, New Egypt, NJ 08533, Saturday, March 16, 2024, for our 28th Anniversary Event and 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony! Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and bell time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets are only $20, and just $5 for kids under 5.

Card subject to change.
