SAN JUAN – March 2, 2024 – In an action-packed night for Most Valuable Promotions at the legendary Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico tonight, international superstar Jake “El Gallo de Dorado” Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) delivered his most impressive performance to date, knocking out Ryan “The Rhino” Bourland (17-3, 6 KOs) in the first round live on DAZN. As the co-main event of the night, Paul came out ready to put on a show, paying homage to his affectionate nickname on the island as he walked out as El Gallo, bringing the crowd to their feet, while echoing the nickname “Gallo” throughout Paul’s short and dominant bout. Paul needed only 2:37 to exterminate The Rhino, with an impressive amount of shots to the body and head for his second destructive first round stoppage against his most experienced and accomplished opponent to date. After the fight, Paul reiterated his championship aspirations, while calling for Canelo Alvarez to accept his challenge.

After Paul vs. Bourland,, it was announced that the queen of Puerto Rico, unified featherweight champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs), would be unable to compete in the headlining bout following an eye injury sustained the day before. Serrano shared her love and tearful condolences with her fans from the ring, explaining that she was declared medically unfit by the Puerto Rican Boxing Commission to fight given the current condition of her eye. Most Valuable Promotions will pay Nina Meinke (18-3, 4 KOs) her fight purse in full, and will provide a full refund to all those seeking it. Speaking to Amanda’s star power on the island, Serrano vs. Meinke shattered records for the island, the Coliseo, and Most Valuable Promotions’ own past events, including surpassing the total number of tickets sold and ticket revenue of Serrano’s historic clash against Katie Taylor at Madison Square Garden. Serrano vs. Meinke achieved a gate of $1.511 million, also surpassing Paul-Tyron Woodley gross sales in Cleveland and WWE Backlash featuring Bad Bunny at the Coliseo in May 2023. Most Valuable Promotions will refund 100% of the $1.511 million to all fans in attendance who seek a refund.

The packed Choliseo rose to deafening cheers as Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez (28-3-1, 14 KOs) took on his mandatory WBO challenger Rene Santiago (12-4, 9 KOs) in his third title defense. The two showed their power and skill in the ring, trading blows as the competitors went the distance for the full twelve rounds. Bomba’s experience and relentless tenacity won out, earning a decisive unanimous decision victory (117-111, 116-112, 115-113). Bomba credited Santiago as a warrior and promised fans would see him on the path to world champion in his upcoming step up to the flyweight class at 112 pounds.

Making his global debut at just age 17, Javon “Wanna” Walton (1-0-1, 1 KO) walked out looking all business, taking in the atmosphere at the packed Coliseo as he stepped into the ring against Joshua Torres (0-1-2). Wanna showed off his immense potential and nifty footwork as the pair traded jabs. Despite the pressure, Wanna remained quick on his feet and resilient against an opponent nearly twice his age. The fight was ultimately ruled a majority draw (39-37 Walton, 38-38 x2). Wanna showed there were more tools he could have used in the ring to gain the win in an in-ring interview with Ariel Helwani post fight, and gave credit to Torres for a well-fought showing.

Opening the main card, young Serrano protege and Puerto Rican sensation Krystal Rosado (3-0, 1 KO) took on the hardest challenge yet of her career against Gloria Munguilla (5-1). The two landed blow after blow across their 4x3:00 battle as the bout went to the cards, resulting in a majority decision (40-36 x2, 38-38) victory for the 21-year old Rosado. Following the fight, Rosado was all smiles as she spoke with Ariel Helwani, explained she still had more energy left to give, and gave love to Puerto Rico, which was met with resounding cheers and applause from the fans in attendance.

In the preliminary bouts, Christopher “Pitufo” Diaz (28-4, 18 KOs) squared off with Headley Scott (18-2, 12 KOs). Diaz quickly became a home crowd favorite as he consistently brought them to their feet against Scott who swung wildly throughout the first round. Pitufo turned up the heat in the second round, knocking down Headley twice before earning a vicious KO that sent Scott falling backwards to the mat. Pitufo gave his thanks to the adoring Puerto Rican fans as he became the new WBA Continental Latin America super featherweight champion.
