JAKE PAUL UNWILLING TO FIGHT TONY FERGUSON

By David Tees on 3/4/2024 3:05 PM

Former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson has fought some of the best that the combat sports world has to offer, but one person he may never have a chance to compete against is Jake Paul.

Paul is willing to fight many UFC fighters who can get out of their respective deals, but he doesn’t want to see Ferguson go down in a bad way.

“Anyone who can get out of their (UFC) contract, I’ll fight,” Paul said during his post-fight news conference this past Saturday (transcript via Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie). “That’s easy work, as far as I am concerned. I do want to do a PFL MMA match – it just has to be the right opponent. But Nate (Diaz) did duck my $15 million offer, so we’ll see who else is on the chopping block.

“… Tony Ferguson? He said he wanted to fight? I don’t want to see him go out like that – that would be sad. He’s a great guy. We don’t want that for Tony.”

Ferguson does have a total of 35 professional MMA fights under his belt, but he is currently in the midst of a seven fight losing streak.

The Youtube star turned boxer, whether competing against Ferguson or somebody else, plans on fighting a few more times in 2024.

“I’m going to stay as active as possible. It’s just about finding the right opponents,” Paul said. “This is my life now. It’s a lifestyle, and I’ll be back hopefully two more times before the end of the year.”
