Stephanie Luciano’s UFC debut will have to wait a little longer before happening because MMA Fighting is reporting that the fighter is suffering from dengue fever and has been pulled from a bout against Julia Polastri on the March 23 UFC Fight Night card.
Luciano said the following on Instagram (transcript via MMA Fighting):
“I’m not feeling well, with pain in the body and joints, fever and headache, so my team and I made the decision to cancel the fight. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the fight. I know a lot of people was anxious to see me debut, and it was so close already, but we can’t control these things. We can’t predict this. I’ll take care of myself, take care of my health, and I want to fight as soon as possible.”
Polastri has also been pulled from the card according to MMA Fighting, despite already flying to Las Vegas for the event.
UFC Fight Night is scheduled for Saturday, March 23 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Rose Namajunas and Amanda Ribas headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
