WRESTLING IS AN ART, JACKASS IS BRAIN DAMAGED - READER FEEDBACK TO TNA

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 9/15/2006 9:36 AM
After being somewhat disappointed in the last few weeks of Impact, I think TNA responded with a good show last night. Started out with the strong tag bout between Kazarian/Bentley and Styles/Daniels. Great work by both teams. The Hi/Low combo by Styles and Daniels looks wicked and then their combo off the turnbuckles to finish is cool. Good bout.

The backstage stuff between Jarrett Eric and Zbyszko doesn't interest me that much. I did like the continuity though when Jarrett told Eric to find Sting and see how he's training and Eric came out later with the camera to enlist Alex Shelley's help. It's good to pay some attention to old storylines.

Sabin and Shelley had a good bout. I wasn't really impressed with the ending. The Jackass tie-in does nothing for me. Otherwise though it was a good bout. Having Senshi out there scouting was a good touch as well.

They need to move on with Roode's plans. Interesting though to see Col. Robert Parker/Robert Fuller there. Nice how just as your site is running the poll on greatest faction ever they're bringing out managers of some of those factions to remind us.

The Hangman's Horror match as a whole was somewhat of a letdown. But, so was the 10,000 thumbtacks match. At least, though the interplay between Raven, Abyss, and brother Runt is interesting. What is Runt feeling? Will this turn into a 3 man match on PPV?

The town hall meeting was good for what it was. Continue to push Joe as a monster. Use him to get a little payback on Zbyszko. Hope this leads to Joe's permanent placement among the main eventers. Who was the girl that Jarrett hit? Nice touch that it was a woman, continuing the cowardly heel type play by Jarrett.

One question. Where was AMW?

Good show overall.

I enjoyed the opening match. Those two teams do indeed know how tag team wrestling should be done. Kazarian and Matt should eventually start contending for the tag titles.

The backstage Jeff Jarrett ego trip was OK, but I hope this angle leads to Eric Young being you-know-what.

Evidence that the show was taped last week: Christy Hemme, who I hear went under the knife a few days ago. Get well!

The X division match was fine, until the Jackass imitators showed up. Incorporating Jackass into a wrestling storyline is just stupid. Sure, both of them have terrifying, don’t-try-this-at-home stunts, but wrestling is an art, while Jackass is brain damaged.

I loved the Christian/Rhino video package, and I am looking forward to the No Surrender match.

I expected more from the Hangman’s Horror match. But then again, the point of the match was apparently to have Brother Runt do a heel turn on Raven. I guess Runt’s now convinced that he can’t beat Abyss.

The town hall meeting was by far the non-wrestling segment of the night. Cornette and Joe worked well on the mic, and Larry Z was the icing on the cake. Then Jarrett showed up. So the end of the segment was dull.

Impact was enjoyable and they did a good job hyping the main PPV matches. Now they need to establish the undercard and we’ll be all set! And hopefully, the Jackass stuff will be over with once the movie’s buzz dies down.

Tonight's Impact showed a few reasons why Bound for Glory hasn't sold out yet despite being available for weeks.

Ok, why is it that everyone in TNA has to scream in all promos?

The Larry Z Cornette stuff was just horrible. Who is the dipsh*t in TNA that thinks Larry Z is going to draw the company any money at all? TNA says they are the wave of the future, but all this power struggle stuff is so 1999. It's like the writers want to recreate the stuff WWF did in 1999, WWF had better performers back then and the writing was 500 times better than TNA is right now. Therefore, TNA should start focusing on new ideas and giving the stars the opportunity to talk.

I hate that Konnan always talks for the champs and they never get promo time. There's a reason WWE is the bigger company, because they make you care about the characters through their interviews and actions in the ring. I have yet to hear Homicde or Hernadez speak for themselves, and they're the tag champs. Konnan's promos are always full-fledge screaming nonstop, and that isn't a good promo if its the same thing over and over.

Opening tag match was good and the finish was cool.

Sabin, Dutt and Lethal should just start a faction called "bland white-meat babyface team", because casual fans I know do not have a reason to care about them other than their good in-ring work. Turn Dutt or Sabin heel, and have them do something crazy heel-like TNA!

The fan revenge concept is very dorky to me. The sight of that old lady going after Jarrett with the strap only to be strapped herself is a wrestlecrap moment indeed. And Jarrett is the World Champ wearing a red striped shirt with a baseball cap? WWE has better fashion consultants for crying out loud!!

Raven shouldn't be wrestling anymore and Abyss is growing stale in my opinion. I like ECW better now cause at least they're making new stars like Knox, Thorn, and Punk with the help of the old guard. I'd rather see Brian Danielson or other new guys in TNA getting opportunities.

Note to Mike Tenay & Don West, please stop screaming for the entire show, my head hurts. They never just calm down. With Bound for Glory coming up, the No Surrender card looks good, but the whole product almost needs an overhaul cause the wrestlers and the stories in TNA just aren't screaming out at me as unique or different.
