PROGRESS Wrestling Presents: Kid Lykos vs. Luke Jacobs for the PROGRESS Wrestling Men's World Championship at Chapter 169: The Devil On My Shoulder
London, England - June 26, 2024 - PROGRESS Wrestling is thrilled to promote the main event for Chapter 169: The Devil On My Shoulder. On Sunday 28th July, the famed Electric Ballroom in Camden will witness former friends colliding as the reigning PROGRESS Wrestling Men's World Champion, Kid Lykos, defends his title against the relentless challenger and Super Strong Style 16 winner, Luke Jacobs.
Kid Lykos has had an incredible seven-year journey in PROGRESS Wrestling. He debuted with a bang, winning the Tag Titles in his very first match. His career faced a setback when he had to retire due to injury, but he made a triumphant return, only to lose his mask in his quest for the world championship. Ultimately, he fulfilled his destiny, unmasked except for a crimson mask of blood, by defeating Spike Trivet inside a steel cage, ending Trivet's 546-day reign. Surrounded by friends, Lykos stood victorious, capping off a remarkable saga.
Our much loved champion has since defeated the likes of Lio Rush, Man Like DeReiss and Mark Haskins in his reign as the soul of PROGRESS Wrestling, but his next challenge may be his toughest yet, as not only will he need to overcome the adversity in the ring against Luke Jacobs, but the psychological damage caused by a former friend attacking him physically and verbally in front of his adoring Electric Ballroom crowd at last month's Super Strong Style 16 tournament.
The man who Lykos once turned to in his fight to end The Vulture, Spike Trivet no longer has his back. Incandescent with rage at the way he feels that Kid Lykos was handed chance after chance, he claims he will take his former friend down.
Luke Jacobs has been on an incredible ascent to the #1 contendership. Fresh off his triumphant victory in the prestigious Super Strong Style 16 tournament, where he defeated four wrestlers in two nights, as well as attacking Kid Lykos at the end of night one, Jacobs has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with.
The former ATLAS Champion's path to glory has been paved with hard-hitting matches and now he has what he planned all along - a shot to claim the ultimate prize, the PROGRESS Wrestling Men's World Championship, against the man he claims does not represent being worthy of it.
