Invicta FC 55: Bernardo vs. Rubin Preview
Invicta FC is back!...and has a new deal with CBS Sports Network to air their fight cards. If you have yet to check out an Invicta FC card, this is a great jumping on point. Invicta FC, and all women promotion, was created over a concern about women’s fighting after the UFC bought Strikeforce. Although the UFC has since embraced women in the promotion, it’s important to have as many opportunities for fights as possible. Let’s take a look at the card for June 28th…
Main Card (9 PM - CBS Sports Network)
Bantamweight Title: Talita Bernardo (10-4) vs. Olga Rubin (9-3)
Strawweight: Kay Hansen (7-6) vs. Sayury Cañon (3-0)
Atomweight: Saori Oshima (13-4) vs. Andressa Romero
Bantamweight: Taylor Guardado (4-2) vs. Yoko Higashi (8-4)
Preliminary Card (7 PM - YouTube)
Atomweight: Elisandra “Lili” Ferreira (6-2) vs. Katie Saull (6-6)
Flyweight: Zoe Nowicki (0-0) vs. Josiane Oliveira (0-0)
Flyweight: Fallon Johnson (0-0) vs. Violeta Mendoza (1-0)
What to Watch
I’ll be honest - while I am excited to have Invicta FC back, a lot of the fighters are new to me. However, I love cards like this, as I get to learn a lot and put some people on my radar. But here’s what I know…
Saori Oshima is a finish machine and I’m excited to see her work again.
Kay Hansen is back after spending some time in the UFC. She was up and down in her first stint in Invicta and did not have a ton of success in the UFC. However, she’s scrappy and should be a tough test for the undefeated Sayury Cañon.
Talita Bernardo, the Bantamweight Champion, has not lost since leaving the UFC. She has a good amount of submissions to her name, but is susceptible to the KO. Olga Rubin started off her career with some knockouts, so she may want to explore that strategy if she wants a chance at winning the title.
I know this was a short preview, but I just wanted to try and get the Invicta FC name out there ahead of their big show. Will you be watching? Let me know at matt.tenhoeve@gmail.com and let me know what you think!
