PFL 6 (2024): Loughnane vs. Gonzales Preview
The PFL returns Friday night, June 28 to figure out the playoff situation in the Featherweight and Welterweight Divisions. The standings are currently wide open, so this round of fights should be a good one with everyone trying to get a big win to enter the playoffs. Let’s take a look at the card…
Main Card (10 PM - ESPN/ESPN+)
Brendan Loughnane vs. Justin Gonzales
Logan Storley vs. Luca Poclit
Magomed Umalatov vs. Brennan Ward
Gabriel Braga vs. Bubba Jenkins
Preliminary Card (6:30 - ESPN+)
Lorenz Larkin vs. Alan Dominguez
Murad Ramazanov vs. Shamil Musaev
Timur Khizriev vs. Enrique Barzola
Goiti Yamauchi vs. Andrey Koreshkov
Kai Kamaka III vs. Pedro Carvalho
Don Madge vs. Neiman Gracie
Tyler Diamond vs. Brett Johns
The Prelims
It’s always interesting to see the order of fights for the PFL. Just about every fight matters, so sometimes you get an interesting scenario early in the Prelims. This card is no different…
Don Madge is currently the standings leader and is fighting second on the Prelims.
Andrey Koreshkov, Timur Khizriev, Murad Ramazanov, and Shamil Musaev are all major contenders if they are able to make the playoffs. Koreshkov needs a big finish to get in, but the other three are currently in playoff contention.
Basically, don’t skip the Prelims if you want to know who is making the playoffs!
Gabriel Braga vs. Bubba Jenkins
Braga will be looking to get more points to solidify his playoff spot against the very tough Bubba Jenkins. Jenkins has lost two in a row and will be looking to get a statement win over Braga, who only has one loss on his record. Jenkins loves to wear guys down, but will have to work hard to avoid the KO.
Magomed Umalatov vs. Brennan Ward
A lot of people were surprised to see Brennan Ward lose his first PFL fight, so he’ll be attempting to get back on track and end his two fight skid. Easier said than done against the undefeated Magomed Umalatov. Magomed passed a big test in his first fight of the season against Andrey Koreshkov. Brennan Ward packs quite the punch, though, so this is a different beast. With a win, Magomed is almost sure to get into the playoffs, but Ward will be looking for some big time points. This one should be good!
Logan Storley vs. Luca Poclit
Storley gets a new opponent in Poclit, who is replacing Laureano Staropoli. For someone who is in desperate need of points, this is a much more favorable matchup for Storley. But still - the fight has to be fought. A lot of people picked Storley to defeat Shamil Musaev in the first fight of the season and that didn’t happen. Poclit could surprise a lot of people and put his name on the map.
Brendan Loughnane vs. Justin Gonzales
Justin Gonzales is coming in on a three fight losing streak against some really tough fighters, while Brendan Loughnane was able to get back on track in his last fight after a surprising upset loss to Jesus Pinedo last year. Both guys are pretty strong all around, but Loughnane is one of PFL’s best. With a win, Loughnane will solidify his spot in the playoffs, where he is sure to be a favorite to win the season.
My Picks
Brendan Loughnane
Logan Storley
Magomed Umalatov
Gabriel Braga
Lorenz Larkin
