Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou hasn’t competed in an MMA fight since exiting the UFC in 2022.
That can soon change because the former heavyweight champion says he will be making his PFL debut later this year against Renan Ferreira.
“I will be fighting by the end of the year,” Ngannou said on The JRE MMA Show (transcript via Matthew Wells of MMA Junkie). “… I think Renan Ferreira is the guy.”
Ngannou has competed twice as a professional boxer since his UFC departure, being defeated by Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
The former UFC fighter says that Ferreira has been on his radar for just about two years now.
“I’ve been telling people about this guy for almost two years,” Ngannou said. “I said, ‘Watch this guy.’ Very athletic. Fast hands, 1-2, knees – very athletic. So, I think it’s going to be him.”
