A lightweight division attraction has been added to the September 7 UFC Fight Night card according to UFC Weibo (via Marcel Dorff) as Rongzhu faces Chris Padilla.
Rongzhu (25-5-0) was the winner of the Road To The UFC 2 tournament, defeating Seong Chan Hong, Sang Wook Kim and Shin Haraguchi to win the tournament. Rongzhu went 1-2-0 during his first UFC run, with that lone win coming over Brandon Jenkins at UFC Fight Night 192. Rongzhu enters this bout on a four fight winning streak and he ha’n't been beaten in over two years.
Padilla (14-6-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, having defeated James Llontop by first round submission at UFC On ESPN 55. Padilla also competed once in Bellator MMA, dropping a bout to Gabriel Green at Bellator 192 in January of 2018. Padilla also enters the contest riding a four fight winning streak and he also hasn’t been beaten in over two years.
UFC Fight Night is scheduled for Saturday, September 7 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
