REPORT: JORDAN VUCENIC STEPS IN AT UFC ABU DHABI, REPLACES ABDUL-KAREEM AL-SELWADY

By David Tees on 7/26/2024 3:04 PM

Guram Kutateladze needed a new opponent for UFC Abu Dhabi after the withdrawal of Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady and now he has one because MMA Junkie is reporting that Jordan Vucenic has accepted the short notice opportunity.

Kutateladze (12-4-0) enters the bout on a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Elves Brener and Damir Ismagulov. Kutateladze hasn’t earned a victory in almost four years, with his last win coming over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Fight Night 180 in October of 2020. Kutateladze has picked up 12 wins as a professional MMA fighter and seven of them came by way of KO/TKO.

Vucenic (13-2-0) is making his UFC debut in this encounter and does so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Vucenic is a former Cage Warriors Featherweight Champion, but he last fought at lightweight at Cage Warriors 174 in July of this year. Vucenic has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter and both of them came by way of decision.

UFC Abu Dhabi takes place on Saturday, August 3 from the Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov headlining. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ABC.
