A heavyweight division attraction has been added to the October 12 UFC Fight Night card according to NTRD_MMA as Waldo Cortes-Acosta faces Chris Barnett.
Cortes-Acosta (12-1-0) enters the contest riding a three fight winning streak, defeating the trio of Lukasz Brzeski, Andrei Arlovski and Robelis Despaigne. Cortes-Acosta hasn’t been defeated in over a year, with his lone loss coming to Marcos Rogerio De Lima at UFC On ESPN 45. Cortes-Acosta competed on Dana White’s Contender Series, defeating Danilo Suzart by first round TKO during the 2022 season.
Barnett (23-8-0) has rotated wins and losses throughout his UFC tenure, with his last bout being a win over Jake Collier at UFC 279. Barnett is competing for the first time in over two years, with his last fight happening in September of 2022. Barnett has earned 23 wins as a professional MMA fighter and 18 of them have come by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night is scheduled for Saturday, October 18 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. PWInsiderXtra is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
