An aura of danger was in the air after what many fans would consider an “up and down” episode for The Revolution last week. Blockbusters lost their tag team gold to Beaches N Cream, and Dustin Jackson defeated Tony Gunn to win the OVW Media Championship in two incredible matches respectively. As fans filled the historic HotPoint Davis Arena in Louisville for yet another installment of Rise, you could feel the tension, as Revolution’s predicted response to their losses promised to be as horrific and abusive as ever.
This week’s show looked to match last week’s quality of in-ring spectacle, featuring OVW Champion Mount Kadeem versus Kal Herro, Media Champion Dustin Jackson against AJZ, and saw J-Rod square off against Karter Cauffman among many other high-profile matches including six-man tag team action, and the new Number One Contender to the Rush Division Title, Icon Lee!
So if you didn’t have time to watch the show, sit back, relax, and read everything you need to know about Rise 1318!

Opening: Kal Herro Opens the Show, Calls Out Revolution
The Fanny Pack Kid opened the show, calling out Doug Basham, Tony Gunn, and the rest of Revolution for making life in OVW so difficult this past year. He said he takes it personally, calling OVW “home”, and called for the return of Al Snow.
With that, an angry Revolution emerged, pitting Hero against Mount Kadeem later in the night. Additionally, Basham scheduled a rematch between Gunn and Herro in a Gentleman’s match for next week. The only way to win the match will be submission or knockout, and will take place over three, five-minute rounds. Judges will decide the winner if the fight goes the distance- the judges being revealed as Doug Basham, Miss Gannon, and none other than Al Snow!
Match 1: Ashton Adonis (W/ Leela Feist) Vs. Erik Surge
In a rematch from last week that ended in a DQ loss for Adonis after Feist got caught interfering, the latter looked to prove he would’ve won if not for his manager’s misstep. As the bell rang, Adonis burst out of the corner with a Shotgun Dropkick, catching Surge off guard and affording him the upper hand early on. Despite Feist’s interference blunder last week, she continued to nail Surge with cheapshots whenever she saw the opportunity.
In the end, Feist looked to redeem herself, slipping Adonis a gold chain which he used to knock Surge out with for the dirty victory- Or so he thought. The referee ordered the match to be restarted, allowing Surge to hit a Jackhammer for the victory.
Result: Erik Surge DEFEATS Ashton Adonis (W/ Leela Feist)
Segment: Leo Fox Presents Shannon The Dude With A New Title
Leo Fox eagerly entered the ring, letting fans know that he volunteered for this job before unveiling a new World Radio Championship to Shannon The Dude, commemorating over 2500 days as Champion- and replacing the old title destroyed by Adam Revolver.
As Shannon showed off his new title, Revolver rushed him and Fox, clearing the ring before Fox saved Dude, followed by both hightailing it out of the arena.
Match 2: Dustin Jackson (C) Vs. AJZ
In what promised to be an extremely competitive match, AJZ of Revolution looked to take on the new OVW Media Champion, Dustin Jackson who won the title from AJZ’s teammate, Tony Gunn. Jackson looked to continue his momentum early, hitting AJZ with a Dropkick before AJZ hit two German Suplexes of his own to even the odds.
The match turned into an all-out brawl, with the two exchanging blows on the outside before they were both counted out. Neither man cared, trying to beat each other up as they were separated by security. Something tells me this won’t be the last we see of AJZ versus Jackson.
Result: No Contest (Double Count Out)
Match 3: Beaches N Cream (C) Vs. Tony Evans and Will Austin (W/ Jay DeNiro)
The new OVW Tag Team Champions took on the emerging duo of Will Austin and Tony Evans, starting the match off hot against Evans who quickly tagged out to Austin. The Future had no better luck, being “creamed” and “taken to the buffet” by the champs before he and Evans regrouped on the outside.
The champs kept their foot on the gas, destroying Austin with tandem offense including a ring-shaking Double Flapjack that almost put the Future away. Evans and Austin couldn’t get a single offense move in until a distraction from DiNero allowed Austin to hit Lawrence from behind with an Ax Handle. From there, Austin and Evans slowed down the pace, wearing down both members of Beaches N Cream.
As the match progressed, it seemed like the egos of Evans and Austin were beginning to clash as the two began making frequent blind tags, eventually boiling over when Austin accidentally tripped Evans in the ring. If that wasn’t enough, Evans also collided with DeNiro as the big man tried handing him the infamous loaded glove. As the trio argued, Beaches N Cream took advantage, culminating in Amir hitting a Violent Time Out for the big win.
After the match, the trio continued arguing before DiNero angrily left his partners behind in the ring.
Result: Beaches N Cream (C) DEFEATS Tony Evans and Will Austin (W/ Jay DiNero)
Match 4: Boy Toy Troy Vs. Icon Lee
After Icon Lee’s shocking number-one contender’s win for the Rush Division Championship last week, the OVW faithful were clamoring for more of Lee. With Star Rider watching on the outside before their Championship match next week, Lee used his agility to hit a stunning Springboard knee to take firm control over Boy Toy Troy early on. Despite a few flurries of offense from Troy, Lee finished his opponent off quickly with a Snapmare Driver.
Result: Icon Lee DEFEATS Boy Toy Troy
Match 5: Jota Peso, Super-Z, and Maximo Suave Vs. Jake Painter, Elijah Eros, and Justice Davis
Eros and Super-Z started things off in a six-man tag team match that promised to be nothing short of fast-paced, frenetic fun, seeing Z, Suave, and Peso taking an early lead with triple-team offense culminating in a Suicide Dive from Super-Z. As the team of high-flyers looked to put their opponents away early, a convenient referee distraction from Justin Davis allowed the number’s game to take effect, starting with a vicious Backstabber from Painter.
From there, Double Suplexes, Backbreakers, Russian Legsweeps, and more isolated Peso in the opposing corner, but his toughness and heart kept him in the match. Eventually, Peso rolled underneath Painter’s Clothesline, tagging in a fresh Super-Z who emptied the ring with ease. The high-fliers cornered Painter, each teeing off before Peso planted Jake with a Stunner, followed by Super-Z’s Flying Crossbody for the win.
Result: Jota Peso, Super-Z, and Maximo Suave DEFEAT Jake Painter, Elijah Eros, and Justice Davis
Match 6: J-Rod (C) Vs. Karter Cauffman
Karter Cauffman looked for one of the biggest wins of her career as she squared off against the seemingly unstoppable Women’s Champion, J-Rod. As expected, J-Rod’s sheer power overwhelmed Cauffman early as she hit Bodyslams, Big Boots, and Sidewalk Slams to wear down the smaller Cauffman. As J-Rod dominated, Freya The Slaya made her presence known, watching the match from the entranceway.
J-Rod grabbed a microphone, trash-talking Slaya mid-match as she beat up her Cauffman, sending both a physical and symbolic message to The Queen of the North. As J-Rod continued her verbal abuse, Cauffman snuck up from behind, rolling up the Champion for the massive upset victory. After the match, Freya and J-Rod brawled on the outside, only stopping when separated by security.
Result: Karter Cauffman DEFEATS J-Rod (C)
Match 7: Mount Kadeem (C) Vs. Kal Herro
The Immovable Mount Kadeem looked to destroy Kal Herro on behalf of Doug Basham, Tony Gunn, and the rest of Revolution in Rise 1319’s main event in a match that pitted speed and heart against size and strength. Early on, Herro’s speed was enough to evade the former NFL star’s thunderous Chops, but eventually, the Champ got ahold of the Fanny Pack Kid, nearly caving his chest in with a series of Double Overhand Chops.
The match spilled to the outside, where Kadeem continued to flatten Herro, literally stepping on him, among other clubbing strikes and Biel Throws. The Fanny Pack Kid reminded fans why his resilience ranks second to none, fighting back from a Crossbody that would’ve flattened most mortal men before hanging Kadeem’s Leg in the top rope. Kal looked to build on the momentum, loading up for his patented FPK, but Tony Gunn grabbed Herro’s legs on the outside, enabling Kadeem to hit a ring-shifting Splash on Kal in the corner. From there, Kadeem finished him off with a brutal Discus Clothesline.
Result: Mount Kadeem (C) DEFEATS Kal Herro
Overall:
Week after week, OVW continues to deliver top-quality shows and this week was no different. Like the last few weeks, the in-ring product seemingly continues to improve- not just from the standpoint of match quality, but from the standpoint of stakes and star power.
Both Beaches N Cream and Dustin Jackson had their first matches since winning their respective titles on Rise last week, with Jackson and AJZ likely continuing their feud and Beaches N Cream defeating the team of Will Austin and Tony Gunn. Additionally, J-Rod looked extraordinarily strong, despite her shocking loss to Cauffman that promised to launch the latter into OVW stardom.
As for Revolution, they got some sort of payback in the form of Herro’s defeat at the hands of Mount Kadeem, but this week’s episode showed us that the problems in OVW that we once thought were boiling over the top, may be just beginning to take shape.
