The UFC will be hosting a historic event at the White House on Sunday, June 14 and since the event will be held on federal land, there is no official athletic commission to oversee the card.
The UFC VP of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Ratner, says that the UFC may have to work around the lack of commission issue by self-regulating the card.
"The White House is federal land," Ratner told MMA Junkie. "The Parks & Recreation (department) are the ones who run it. We're talking. We need to find out exactly what the perameters are. I'll be involved for sure."
For the most part, each individual state has their own athletic commission, but Washington DC doesn’t because that area is not a state in the United States.
Ratner has seen where at the White House the fights will be happening at, but he doesn’t know how many fans will be able to attend.
"When people ask me about the White House card, whether it's officials, whether it's fighters – everyone wants to fight on it," Ratner said. "That's natural. I say, 'That's Dana.' It's still five months away. June 14 is the date. I've seen at the White House where it's going to be on the lawn. I don't know how many seats will be there for that card."
