MICHAEL JOHNSON’S TEAM & ALEXANDER HERNANDEZ ISSUE STATEMENTS ON UFC 324 FIGHT CANCELLATION

By David Tees on 2/1/2026 10:36 AM

Michael Johnson and Alexander Hernandez were set to meet in a lightweight division attraction on the UFC 324 preliminary card.

The bout was canceled on fight day due to some concerns about the betting lines heading into the fight.

Dave Martin, who represents Johnson, says the fighter was disappointed by the bout’s cancellation, but respects that the UFC had to do what they had to do (via Ariel Helwani, transcribed by Yahoo Sports):

"We were obviously disappointed by the cancelation, as Michael had an outstanding training camp and was fully prepared to compete. That said, we understand and respect the UFC’s responsibility to protect the integrity of the sport. In today’s environment, particularly with the growth of regulated sports betting and heightened scrutiny across professional sports, these matters have to be taken seriously. We appreciate the open communication from the UFC throughout the process and our focus now is working with them to have Michael rebooked as soon as possible.”

Hernandez issued his own statement via Instagram:
