And NEW: Albert Blas Crowned BKB Super Featherweight Champion, Becomes Second Two-Promotion Bare Knuckle Champion
This past Saturday night, January 31, BKB, the biggest and baddest bare knuckle boxing company in the world, returned home to Miami for its historic 50th show at the James L. Knight Center. Founded in Miami in 2014 as the first sanctioned bare knuckle league in the US, BKB (then-BYB) helped usher in a new age of combat sports – built for excitement and, with the patented Mighty Trigon, prompting 70% faster outcomes. BKB took the buzz and urban fight culture from backyard, fighting popularized viral YouTube clips, and commercialized it into a global sport. Today, BKB is broadcast in over sixty countries internationally and is the largest bare knuckle boxing company in the world, with the largest library, roster and global distribution network.
BKB 50 aired live in North America in English on VICE TV and in Spanish on Telemundo; and in Europe and internationally on talkSPORT.
Main Card
Alberto Blas made history on Saturday at BKB 50: Evolution when he defeated former Featherweight Champion Harold McQueen for the inaugural BKB Super Featherweight title, becoming the second fighter (along with BKB Lightweight Champion Jarod Grant) to hold bare knuckle world titles in the two major promotions. Blas, who entered the fight 7-0 with seven frist-round knockouts, was tested early by McQueen who came out with his signature speed and aggression in the first two rounds, before Blas was able to wear him down in the third, knocking him down multiple times and earning a TKO. McQueen was a late replacement for the injured former champion Brandon Birr who was originally slated to face Blas. Blas is currently BoxRec’s number one pound-for-pound Cuban bare knuckle fighter in the world, and its top bantamweight.
Jamie Driver, despite breaking her right early in the fight rendering her unable to use her right arm, survived six rounds to maintain her BKB Welterweight title against Brazil’s Bianca Daimoni, improving to 6-1. Driver is currently the number three pound-for-pound women’s fighter in the world.
The BKB Super Flyweight Title fight between Mexico’s Cecy Ulloa and Cuba’s Nelsey Torres ended in a No Contest in the second after an accidental knee injury rendered Torres unable to put pressure on her leg.
Henry Williams was victorious in the BKB 50 Fight of the Night with a hard fought battle against Jordan Nash. Williams improves to 6-2 with 4 KOs.
Former 21-6 gloved boxer Yunieksi Gonzalez of Cuba remained perfect in the Trigon improving to 2-0 against battle-tested 26-year-old Zion Tomlinson who was fighting in his eleventh bare knuckle contest.
Rene Rodriguez, who was one of the original fighters in Dada 5000’s legendary backyard, had his homecoming spoiled by BKB newcomer, Montreal’s Matt Socholotiuk who was victorious by Corner Stoppage at the end of the third round.
UK’s Aaron McCallum was victorious in his US debut and improved to 9-6 (7 KOs), defeating Armenia’s Serob Minasyan by TKO after Minasyan was unable to continue with a broken hand.
