SEAN O’MALLEY FINDS IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT ZUFFA IS PAYING CONOR BENN $15 MILLION

It was recently announced by Zuffa Boxing that Conor Benn has signed a one fight deal with the promotion, with Benn being paid approximately $15 million for the lone fight.

Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley finds it hard to believe that Zuffa Boxing is paying Benn that much money.

"For me, it's so hard to believe," O'Malley said on his YouTube channel (transcript via Danny Segura of MMA Junkie). "I've been told, Tim (Welch) told me, 'Did you see that?' It doesn't mean it's true. I don't know, it could very well be true. I can't imagine it being true Zuffa Boxing is like they're paying out, I don't even know who Conor Benn is. He's supposed to be a pretty big name in boxing, but I've never heard of him."

According to the Guinness World Records, the highest paid UFC fighter for a single fight was former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor, who earned $3 million for a bout against Nate Diaz at UFC 202.

O’Malley also contemplates just how much work a UFC fighter puts in to build their name, only to see a Zuffa Boxer get $15 million for a single fight.

"If they're really paying him $15 million, yeah, it's crazy how much work you put in the UFC to build this name, create this charatcer, be this star, and I'm not f*cking making $15 million a fight,” says O’Malley.
