BORING OR NOT? - MIXED FEEDBACK TO LAST NIGHT'S EDITION OF ECW

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 10/25/2006 1:04 PM
I thought last nights show was a notch below what we have come to expect on Tuesday nights. I thought the crowd was awful, but felt they have been dead throughout the MLB playoffs as well...what has happened to the Spirit of St. Louis???

Van Dam has to win after he already has won to get his title shot?? Ugh. I liked the CM Punk/ Striker match as it was not a squash and showcased Striker as a solid competitor. I didn't like the ending , but understand they need to move forward on the Knox storyline.

Test/Holly did seem to be missing something, but was stiff from both guys.

Sandman's promo got a chuckle from me in the end.

I enjoyed the ladder match, was surprised RVD won, figured they'd lower the contract like they did in the Sabu match a lil while back. I think Big Show has done a great job and is under appreciated for his work.

I believe Joey Styles has made the transition to story teller as WWE wants, I just wish we had a smattering of the old play by play style sprinkled in...I miss it, especially during a Punk/Stryker match as they trade holds.

Again I thought the St. Louis crowd was dead and disrespectful...none of the matches deserved a boring chant, yet each one had it. I give the show a 7 out of 10.

I'm glad other people said the show was boring, so I know it wasn't just me. First it opened with a boring 15 minute intro. That's a quarter of the show down the tubes.

Matt Striker vs CM Punk was boring. Joey Styles is awful on commentary. Go out of your way to listen to him. He does not call a single move all night. Not one move.

Test vs Hardcore was boring after the build up. The crowd was dead and only the suplex to the floor did any good. Move of the night, for me.

I read that the ladder match wasn't much, which is lucky. I fell asleep before it came on.

There was one ECW original on the show this week. Watching Test and Hardcore and Striker... it was like a bad episode of Heat.

Is it weird that most weeks I keep thinking, "at least there's TNA."

Hope this week's Impact makes up for WWE.

What's up wrestling fans! I'd just thought I'd send this column out to you all, because with the way things are looking @ this point in wrestling, I would say most of you would tend to agree with my opinions. To begin, to make a long story short, I've been a fan of the WWF/E for 16 years and counting, I watched a little of WCW, and very little of ECW in its prime, and that's what this column is about: the "new" ECW. Several months ago when I was reading the wrestling news online, I saw that the WWE was going to relaunch ECW due to popular demand, strong DVD sales, and the buyrate for the 2005 edition of One Night Stand. I, and many others thought that this version of ECW would be completely separate from WWE, but as we all found out, that was not the case. The debut show on Sci-Fi was the WORST debut show I've ever seen, and the negative feedback to the show was unbelievable. To hear Tazz and Joey Styles hype it as being "better" than Raw and Smackdown! was an insult. Then, after the initial show, Vince McMahon (as much as I respect him) and Kevin Dunn made changes immediately, and over the last few months, it has been confirmed over and over again that it's just another brand for WWE. It was NEVER meant to be a separate company, not with Vince running things behind the scenes.
