In January, Full Impact Pro Wrestling held a show in Crystal River, Florida headlined by a main event between two men who had worked as a team in Ring of Honor, Roderick Strong and Jack Evans. Some people have considered this to be one of the best main events in Full Impact Pro’s two year history. Here are the results from the show.
Commentary is provided by Dave Prazak and Jared David.
Vic Slowhand welcomes to everyone to the show but he is interrupted by Colt Cabana and Sal Rinauro. Cabana gets on the mic and he says that they are not okay because last night Team Awesome Awesome Ding Dong were going to win the FIP Tag Titles. However, they were interrupted and could not beat the Heartbreak Express in their final match to try to win the titles. Cabana blames it on Erick Stevens and Steve Madison, and he calls them no good punks. Cabana tells Stevens and Madison if they think it is going to be a fight, they want to fight them and they will do it right now.
Cabana and Rinauro go to the ring but Stevens and Madison are not in the building. Cabana takes the mic back and he says that if they do not want to fight now, they will get their revenge some time tonight with fists to the face.
Angel Armoni comes out and he gets in Evans face. Armoni gets on the mic and he says that he is a fifteen year veteran who has wrestled all over the world, including
Match Number One: Jack Evans defeats Angel Armoni
Evans gets the early advantage but Armoni is able to recover and he attacks Evans. Evans uses his high flying moves to try to get the victory but Armoni is able to kick out and he uses nefarious means to work over Evans while the referee is distracted. Roderick Strong comes out to tell the referee what he missed. That allows Evans to hit a spinning heel kick for the three count.
After the match, Roderick Strong is interviewed and asked why he helped Jack Evans when he is scheduled to wrestle Evans later in the night. Strong says that he did it because he wants there to be no doubt that Strong is the better man tonight. Strong and Evans shake hands before they go to the back.
The FIP Tag Team Champions the Heartbreak Express, Kory Chavis, and So Cal Val come out and Val gets on the mic. Val mentions that the Heartbreak Express successfully defended their titles the previous night so that means that the Heartbreak Express will not be defending the titles tonight. Val says that it will be an easy night for them.
Match Number Two: Chasyn Rance, Seth Delay, and Benny Blanco defeat The Heartbreak Express (Sean Davis and Phil Davis) and Kory Chavis [with So Cal Val]
The Heartbreak Express and Chavis try to get the crowd to calm down before the match starts. Sean Davis and Rance start things off and Sean uses his size advantage to overpower Rance, but Rance uses his agility to take down Sean and Phil. Sean is used by Rance, Delay, and Blanco to wear down Phil and Chavis before the Heartbreak Express and Chavis regroup outside the ring. Rance, Delay, and Blanco maintain the advantage when the action returns to the ring; the experience of the Heartbreak Express as a team gives them the advantage and they use the referee to help them double and triple team their opponents. While Blanco and Chavis battle outside the ring, Rance and Delay hit cross body blocks from the top turnbuckle to pin Phil and Sean at the same time.
After the match, Sean gets on the mic and he tells the fans to stop calling him ‘jelly roll’ or he will slap anyone who says it. The fans do not do a good job of listening to Sean. Sean gets woozy as he heads to the back and he almost falls on a few fans.
Colt Cabana and Sal Rinauro come back out and Cabana reminds the fans that they have an agenda tonight. If Stevens and Madison do not come out to accept their challenge, then heck will be run. Cabana wants Stevens and Madison to come out. Instead of Stevens and Madison,
Match Number Three:
The match starts off with each man trying to get the early advantage by working on the arm. Clark has Aries in an arm bar and Aries tries to get out of the hold with an arm drag and slam, but
After the match, Jay Fury comes out and he says that he is tired of the interference in their matches. Fury challenges Bryan Danielson.
Match Number Four: Bryan Danielson (with Austin Aries and Mr. Milo Beasley) defeats Jay Fury
Danielson with an early take down on Fury and he proclaims himself to be the best wrestler in the world and plays up to the crowd, but the people of
As Austin Aries goes to the back, he comments on how no one can withstand the punishment of ‘DP’, and then it is time for a ‘Sexy Party’ from Danielson and Aries.
Colt Cabana and Sal Rinauro interrupt Vic Slowhand’s announcement and Cabana says that they have brought out chairs to wait for Erick Stevens and Steve Madison to arrive. They are going to hang out with the fans to wait for Stevens and Madison to come out. Cabana promises that there will be ‘fists to the face’.
Match Number Five: Black
The match starts with Black
After the match, Machete gets on the mic and he says that they have been in FIP for two months and he says that these are not the type of matches that the fans deserve to see. They deserve to be wrestling better competition and if they do not get better competition, then everybody that gets into the ring with them will get a one way ticket to the hospital room.
Dave Prazak comes out with Mr. Milo Beasley and Jimmy Rave. Dave says that it has been a good night FIPping it up in
Match Number Six: Tony Mamaluke defeats Jimmy Rave (with Bryan Danielson)
Mamaluke gives Rave ten seconds to get to the ring and Rave slides in at nine and then leaves the ring immediately after entering. Rave continues to do this while antagonizing the fans. Rave returns to the ring but he refuses to lock up with Mamaluke. After Mamaluke and Rave try to get the advantage, Prazak’s interference allows Rave to take over, including a somersault senton from the apron by Mr. Beasley onto Mamaluke after Tony got into Mr. Beasley’s wheelchair. Rave works over Mamaluke with the assistance of Prazak and Mr. Beasley but Rave cannot put away Mamaluke. Mamaluke hits a suplex on Rave, but Rave is close enough to the ropes to allow Prazak to put his foot on the bottom rope. Rave is able to get out of a few submission holds, but when Mamaluke tries a third time, Rave taps out.
After the match, Dave Prazak throws a tantrum in the ring after Rave’s loss.
They cut to Cabana and Rinauro waiting for Stevens and Madison, but Stevens and Madison come into the building from the exit and they Pearl Harbor Rinauro and Cabana.
Match Number Seven: Miracle Violence Connection (Steve Madison and Erick Stevens) defeat Team Awesome Awesome Ding Dong (Colt Cabana and Sal Rinauro)
Match Number Eight: Roderick Strong defeats Jack Evans to earn a title match against FIP champion Homicide
Evans and Strong try to get the early advantage, but when the action goes outside the ring, Evans uses his acrobatic style to take control. Evans acrobatic style comes back to hurt him when Strong catches Evans and hits a backbreaker and he takes control of the match. Strong stretches Evans in ways that you did not think a human could be stretched. Evans with a series of near falls on Strong but Strong tosses Evans onto the top rope. Evans hits a DDT on the apron and then he hits the Sasuke Special into a rana but Evans cannot put Strong away. Evans goes up top but Strong pushes the referee into the ropes and that crotches Evans. Strong hits a superplex and then he puts Evans in the StrongHold and Evans taps.
After the match, Strong picks up Evans, hugs him and raises Evans’s hand before leaving the ring. Evans is helped to the back and you can see Evans’s chest after the punishment he took from Strong during the match.
Strong vs. Evans Thoughts: This DVD is approximately two hours and ten minutes in length....The sound seemed a little muffled from the building, making it difficult to understand the promos and announcements....One thing that Full Impact Pro Wrestling has been able to do is bring in some of the top talent in the world and they have been able to elevate the level of talent for the ‘local’ wrestlers. The Aries/Clark and Danielson/Fury matches were very strong....While this show was from almost ten months ago, it is interesting to see how much the wrestlers and product has changed. For example, Black
