TNA's 50 Greatest Moments
The DVD is 3 hours long in a documentary/countdown show style. They count them down from 50 to 1 and have wrestlers, employees, and managers comment on the incidents. Some of the commentators throughout the DVD are James Mitchell, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Christian Cage, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, and Jeremey Borash.
They give ample amount of time to each of the 50 moments in my opinion...some get a little more, some a little less, but overall a good amount of time for each. While I will not spoil what the top ten are for anyone, I feel TNA overplayed the importance of some of the 50 events. Things like DDP's debut in TNA, Senshi vs Daniels at Lockdown, AJ Styles defeating Jarrett at Hard Justice to become 3 time NWA Champion, and the World X Cup match on iMPACT to decide the winner didn't really seem like memorable moments when they happened, yet they are in the top 50 of all time for TNA... As for others, I think they didn't credit them enough. Still, I wouldn't argue with the majority of things on this list.
Some things that are missing (probably for the right reasons) are when Panda bought TNA. That was the event that kept the company alive and should have been mentioned on this DVD, Vince Russo helping Jeff Jarrett win his first NWA title was a huge moment for TNA but it got no mention here, SEX vs Tradition is one of TNA's biggest storylines and it fails to get a nod, AJ Styles winning his first NWA World title is much bigger than the earlier mentioned 3rd NWA World title win, Jerry Lynn and AJ Styles putting the X Division on the map was a very memorable moment, and how about Christopher Daniels bleeding and passing out in the first Iron man match with AJ Styles back in 2005? They also don't mention the Fox Sports Net debut at all. This was HUGE for TNA. It would make my top 10 for sure because it was TNAs first exposure to a larger audience. To me all of those events are very memorable moments in TNA's history but are not included in the list.
Even still, things like Christian's debut, Sting's re-debut, Jeff Hardy's debut, Toby Keith, Brian Urlacher, AJ Pierzynski, the King of the Mountain, the Spike TV debut, the Ultimate X, Raven's NWA Title win, Victory Road, the Fire, Jarrett vs the Tennessee Titans, Cookiegate, and others are highlighted perfectly.
One thing I think TNA should probably have left off the list is the Randy Savage debut. Why? He represents a failure by TNA. They brought him in and it meant nothing in the end. The same could be said about Hogan, but in the case of Hogan he gave TNA a huge media boost and some solid footage. Randy gave TNA about 15 seconds of footage between his debut and his only match for the company.
In all, TNA did a great job with this video, and for the nostalgic fans out there this DVD is a lot of fun. It is great reliving the moments from the past 4+ years and remember how it felt all over again. This DVD also acts as a great video to show fans that haven't paid attention to the product. It will give them a great sense of the history TNA has had and what they missed out on. I didn't have very high expectations for this DVD, so I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining it really was.
