GREAT LADDER MATCH STEALS THE SHOW - READER FEEDBACK TO RAW

By PWInsiderXtra Readers on 11/21/2006 9:23 AM
I thought RAW was a so-so show. I thought the beginning segment was a good set-up for the main event. I thought one match in the first 45 minutes was not good. Jeff Hardy and Johnny Nitro deserve an A+ on the ladder match. I got to give Melina props on her facial expressions. They were great. The second half just dragged for me. Lita and her saying her match at Survivor Series is her last match...whatever...Dusty Rhodes vs. Kenny...whatever. The 8-MAN main event was ok though I liked the post-match brawl. For a go-home edition of RAW, I found it disappointing. I give it two out of five stars....

Great start to Raw by pushing all three Survivor matches in one segment. HBK’s “Let start the Royal Rumble” was priceless - though a Battle Royal with the six teams would have been pretty cool. Where was Lita - was Melina's new hair colour meant to make us think they were both there? Wouldn't MVP be better on the Spirit Squad?

And after a great opening it goes downhill. Sabu should not have jobbed so badly as he did. Especially as he is on the opposing team to Umaga at the pay per view. Umaga no sold virtually all of Sabu's offense. There's a difference between coming back from a move quickly and no selling it, and the latter makes your opponent look weak.

I’m not sold on a Carlito v Masters feud. The last feud Masters was he, he was beaten several times by a cruiserweight, so neither winning or losing to him does Carlito any good, and he is the star that should be rising. But the matches won’t the that bad and anything that gets Torrie to ringside is fine by me.

Melina’s scream is a lot better than anything else that comes out her mouth. She's more than eye candy, but she just can’t cut an interview. The Spirit Squad dissension may be a good way to put the Legends over without the younger guys looking totally weak - mind you, that's all they have done the last few months. I bet Chris Masters wishes Ric Flair would give him some tips for the ladies. Wouldn't it be great if Simmons was the legend - he'd probably get more of a pop for one match than old partner JBL has since they split.

The ladder match was pay per view quality and the best match on Raw in a long time. Melina's facial expressions were great and I'm glad she didn't interfere in the match. A few obviously set up spots, but it’s hard to come up with new moves in a ladder match, especially ones which don't risk their participation in Survivor Series. Nitro really shone as a single competitor here.

Separated at birth - Dusty Rhodes and Jabba the Hut. Nicky got some good offence in - at least Dusty doesn't mind selling - and he seems to have two more moves than Flair. This has been a one match show so far though.

Didnt Jim Ross hit the nail on the head with What's Lita doing to get all these favours? and Who's she sucking up to. (Though probably minus the up to) Mind you, the thought of Mickie James blindfolded is quite appealing….ahem… Didn’t Jim Ross hit the nail on the head with “What’s Lita doing to get all these favours?” and “Who’s she sucking up to”. (Though probably minus the “up to”) Mind you, the thought

Well it seems my wish came true and Simmons is the replacement for Roddy Piper…

An ad break during the entrances, an ad break two minutes in - how much of this main event are we going to see?

The main event was your expected cluster, the post-match brawl being better than the match itself.

Overall, a fair build to the pay per view but that's all it was. With the exception of the ladder match, not much content at all.
