I'm a huge wrestling fan and I was at home during ECW. Normally I watch the show as it airs but apparently my DVR crashed and didn't record the show, so I missed it because I was busy watching the most beautiful women in the world, in glorious high definition, on "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show". Given the recent ECW shows, and the horrible PPV, I'm certain I came out way ahead. Hell, even if ECW on Sci-Fi was great I still came out ahead. Those models were hot, even more so in HD!

Well, it could have been worse! The one plus every week in ECW is that it is a solid 40 minutes (give or take) of wrestling (good and bad) because since they only have an hour of time they don’t have time to waste with never ending promos, constant backstage vignettes or interviews etc…
I really liked the Heyman promo to start the show. It was a very fitting way for Paul E. to leave TV I thought, even if that wasn’t his intent when he cut it. I had to wonder if he knew what was coming when he ran down how the wrong guy won, in his character’s opinion. I really liked it.
Starting the show off with RVD and Punk tagging together I thought was also a good idea, as after Sunday night the ECW faithful needed something to cheer about. I thought they booked Punk to look very good here and I actually didn’t mind the run in DQ as much because the way Holly was selling the Vice, it seemed a forgone conclusion Punk would have gotten the Tap Out. I also really liked how Sabu came out bandaged up – oh wait except that when he was put into the ambulance on Sunday it was his neck and back that was being yelled about, not his arm – BUT C’est La Vie at least they had him sell he was injured. I actually wrote about this exact combo on the message board yesterday – Punk/RVD/Sabu vs. Holly/Test/Goon Squad (aka The Bashams). I think it can work.
Hey Dreamer got a win! I thought Tommy did an excellent job selling the pain he was in. Unfortunately this was not one of Davari’s finer matches in my opinion. I don’t think he really knows how to work the little man having an early advantage on a big man – I think he is very fluid when in the ring with his own sized opponent and I have seen him work well in the underdog role too – but I think he really needs to work on how to be in control when his opponent has been beaten down by Khali pre match since I would have to assume this will not be the last time this angle will be run… Back to Tommy, I didn’t mind the post match Khali breakdown. I did think that before the match Davari could have said that he told Khali to take the night off because he wouldn’t need him with the shape Dreamer was in just to explain why Kahli wasn’t at ringside a little better…
Kelly Kelly vs Ariel, obvious low point except for seeing Ariel’s derriere. I actually didn’t like that Kevin Thorn was thrown to the back before match. I mean I understand that the impartial referee knew that he would interfere and he wanted to have a level playing ground for Kelly Kelly but I just didn’t think it really meant much in the long run. Kelly over sold that she was scared and clueless and I doubt anyone was surprised she won… I am getting really tired of the roll up victories by the way. Especially when clearly Ariel wasn’t hurting or tired at the 2 min. mark of the match. Post match Mike Knox stuff was lame. Knox can’t act. When he had suckered her in he should have played up the turn much more than he did. The flower throwing was a cool visual. UH WHERE WAS THE SANDMAN? I gotta tell you I was expecting the music to hit and Sandman march down when Knox set Kelly up for his finisher… Tazz – it was fun to see you in the ring but uh, man, you got big. All due respect of course.
Main Event. It was ok, and Show worked hard. The finish? Botched? That was supposed to be a Oklahoma Slam (Powerslam, right) and Lashley could pull it off?? Otherwise Big Show gets pinned on a body slam? Eh… well I sincerely hope Show takes the time to heal up and get back in shape…for his health’s sake. If that is the last we see of him I personally want to say “Thank You†to him for the memories and the work he has done.
I give the show a B -

- Since Paul Heyman is gone, who the security guards are going to be working for?
- Mike Knox.....who?
- I know that Dreamer is burning on the inside for what Vince has done to ECW.
- I don't recall when was the last time a wrestling main event was won by using a body slam, either my memory is too short or I don't know plenty of pro wrestling history (which I admit I don't). Anyways, I didn't had to pay $40 to watch this...yet again (it may become a popular quote).
- One final brief thought: I REALLY hope that the generic muscle-filled-talentless-sports-entertainer kind of "wrestler" fades away with time, less is *NOT* more.
