Introduction:
This week seemed very by the numbers in both TNA and WWE with a few exceptions. We did see more airtime used for the tag team division and its competitors in the WWE than in the past few weeks. Some teams did very well, while some just lingered on. One fairly good match and angle was the mixed tag match with Gail Kim and Kazarian vs. Ms. Brooks and Roode. It was a nice way to use a tag match to move fourth an angle and I applaud the effort. And now on to our tag team weekly run-down.
Cryme Tyme
Cryme Tyme had an excellent week over in the WWE. In the Raw report by Dave Sheerer he had this to say "Cryme Tyme was fun again. They have done a good job with their characters and are becoming over characters." I couldn't agree more with this statement and not just from Raw's outing but as a whole. Cryme Tyme didn't work a match this week of note and probably was the best thing going in WWE. Their feud with Cade and Murdoch was fantastic. Thumbs up!
Cade and Murdoch
The only fault of Cade and Murdoch was in creative this week. I just don't see why a couple of "rednecks" (not my term mind you) would help or assist Daivari. Now in truth they were only there to get Cryme Tyme but still it was an odd choice in Daivari to help move the tag feud along. They did a great job as heels though and that is all that matters. They also apparently had one of the best matches at SummerSlam.you know, the one that didn't air live on the broadcast. That is just deplorable and again not their fault. Thumbs in the middle
Kendrick and London
Paul London and Brian Kendrick are just fantastic. Athletically, I think they might be the best team in WWE with maybe the exception of WGTT. They lost in their dark match to Cade and Murdoch but from what I understand they put on a heck of a show. They won with their partner Cody Rhodes against WGTT and Davari and did it well. Thumbs up.
The Highlanders
The highlanders were again regulated to heat. Usually I'd give a thumbs down but I took a minute and thought about their recent appearances. Mainly they had been getting squashed by Snitsky. At least on Heat they didn't get buried by a singles competitor and also they won. Yes, it was against two jobbers, but they won in a squash which should make them look fairly strong for all you internet fans. Thumbs in the Middle but if we see them in a competitive tag team match soon on Raw or Smackdown or even ECW then I will throw them a thumbs up.
WGTT
Shelton is blonde now. Well, at least he made people look at him and thus look at his tag team. They chose Daivari as their partner to take on Rhodes, London and Kendrick. Interesting choice. They really made this a competitive, albeit short fun match. WGTT is fantastic when they get the time to show it. They are going to make waves if they keep this up. Thumbs in the middle till they get their chance to shine.
The Major Brothers
They had a great match last week against the tag champs. This week they are M.I.A. Thumbs down.
Deuce and Domino
A big week for D and D for sure and next week will be even bigger. Deuce and Domino fairly easily defeated Shannon Moore and Eugene to retain the tag titles. Now, Moore and Eugene aren't exactly the team of the ages but as singles competitors they both are confident and technically sound. It was a good win for the tag champs. Then, we find out they are going to be against Matt hardy and MVP. Now, obviously whether or not Hardy and Porter win, this is to help the feud between MVP and Hardy, not elevate D and D. But, D and D just got inserted into arguably the hottest feud in either WWE or TNA right now. That is a bog plus for this team and even if they lose next week they won't lose face or steam I don't think. Big thumbs up.
Jesse and Festus
We got a promo on BBQ this week from Jesse and Mr. Festus. It was funny. But it is time for these guys to come out of the woodshed. Thumbs down.
Team 3D
They assisted Kurt Angle in beating the Steiner's. Not a bad way to spend an evening I guess. Thumbs in the Middle.
The Steiners
They got beat by the World Champion with the help of 3D. It might ignite a feud between the teams, it might now. Thumbs in the middle.
Pac Man and Killings
I still have no idea where these guys are headed as a team if Pac Man Jones can't fight. Killing's has his work cut out for him in this line of duty he has gotten himself into. I really didn't like the fact that Pac Man used the old "NOW - spray can on the back of a downed opponent" deal. Spray painting the word PAC just doesn't so it for me. Thumbs Down.
XXX/Dutt and Lethal/VKM/LAX/Motor City Machineguns/
I didn't see much of these teams this week, if at all. Thumbs way down
In Closing
I don't have much to close with this week except that I really hope we don't continue to see fewer teams on TNA like we did this past week. I think WWE is starting to try and move their tag division again and that is really great. The TAG TEAM OF THE WEEK AWARD this week was hard to decide. Cryme Tyme is doing really well in their angle with Cade and Murdoch but Deuce and Domino's stuff to me just squeaked above the rest this week so it goes to them. I wish we could get Deuce and Domino in a feud with Cryme Tyme before too long because I think those four men would work really well together. A few months back I remember Cryme Tyme stealing D and D's car but nothing ever came of it. Another dropped ball by creative. A ball that could have turned into a great match. Stay tuned fans. See ya next week!!!
