TAG TEAM WEEKLY

By Joel C Croyle on 10/28/2007 3:49 PM

For the week of October 28th, 2007

Introduction:

Hello tag team fans!  You might notice some things are going to be changing with tag team weekly starting this week.  First off, instead of the article coming out in the middle of the week it will be coming out at the end of the week.  I will begin my wrestling television watching now on Sundays when there are PPV’s and concluding it on Friday’s after watching Smackdown!  Do check here over the weekends for Tag Team Weekly after Dave posts it!  Another change to TTW will be the actual format of the article.  It seems that even ECW is having a tag team match every week now and so we will be looking at angles and matches instead of teams but at the end I will give my thumbs up and thumbs down for each active team.  It goes without saying yet needs to be said; those teams that don’t get TV time automatically get a thumbs down.  Also, I won’t be covering RAW this week since I actually covered it in my last “Weekly” article.  And now on to the world’s greatest (and least respected) division – the tag teams!

RAW

Note:  Until next week TAG FANS!

Smackdown

MVP and Matt Hardy vs. Rey Mysterio and Finlay

Simply one of the best tag matches I’ve seen on free television in a really long time.  What impressed me most was that when Hardy broke open in velvet red, the rest of the cast really picked everything up and made it all work.  It was a very smartly crafted match with a lot of PPV implications.  MVP is just absolutely incredible. Also, the angle setting the match up on MVP’s lounge show was really well done but it is obvious that Rey and Finlay just don’t have the click in the charisma department that Porter and Hardy do.

Jesse and Festus vs. The Two Jobbers of the week.

It was quick, I’ll say that.  It was also very good.  Jesse and Festus have great timing both in and out of the ring.  Best part of this match though was on commentary when Festus was referred to and argued about as a pumpkin via Cole and Layfield.

ECW

CM Punk and Balls Mahoney defeat Jim Morrison and The Miz

This was a fair bout that really could have had a lot more steam.  It just seemed to fall a bit short for me.

TNA

LAX and The Steiner’s vs. Tomko/Styles and VKM

Really not much to write about here and I agree with Dave, Buck and Mike (can’t remember who reviewed TNA this week), the match that was set up next week will be much better.

3D’s Promo

This was really solid this week.  I just wish it wasn’t hit or miss with these guys!
