Introduction:
There was a ton of tag team wrestling on this week and that is always a good thing. Two weeks ago I decided not to follow TNA for a while because I was really bored with their angles and storylines. At that time I said I would more than likely be back with TNA stuff soon and now I am. I will be going over all the tag matches and angles below for both TNA and WWE but before I get to that I just want to say two of the best wrestling related things I saw this week were from singles stars and on TNA. The Kaz vs. Angle match was phenomenal, I’ll be going over the angle that ensued after that match later but just in speaking on that match itself, it was the best match on any program all week and Kaz just became a legitimate TNA Superstar. The Booker T/Christian Cage angle was the other thing worth mentioning, they did their jobs fantastically and I cannot wait for them to hook it up. Enough about the singles division…let’s get to the tag teams!
RAW
Jeff, Matt and Rey vs. Kennedy, MVP, Finlay
This was a solid match and all the workers worked hard. Jeff and Matt don’t seem to be on the same page as of late. When I say this I am not speaking from a storyline perspective. It seems to me that in the past that when these two were doing their singles thing but then would be put together in a match of a tag nature, they’d light it up. This week they had two matches and one back stage bit, and none of it came off well to me. Rey and Finlay were technically great in this match
Mickie, McCool & Kelly vs. Melina, Jillian Hall & Layla.
There were some seriously scary moments in this match but that comes out of some of these women still being really green. They should take a step from the young Cody Rhodes and really learn how to work before getting in to the squared circle. Mickie’s ending with the kiss is great and I hope it becomes her finisher and if I could name it, it would “The Long Kiss Goodnight”. Melina, love her or hate her, is a great in ring worker and showed that in this bout.
Batista and Undertaker vs. Cade and Murdoch
I disagree with WWE having the RAW tag champs 1) lose a match prior to their tag title defense at the upcoming PPV and 2) losing a match to two Smackdown superstars. I realize those superstars are the top men in this business right now along with Orton and Michaels, but still it made no sense. I also did not really enjoy this match as I thought it was slow and plodding.
Smackdown
This match was much better than the Raw match and that is due to having to veterans, a fantastic James and a good
WWE.COM
Let me just start out by saying that I think wwe.com had a great idea in putting a number one contender match on wwe.com. By promoting that, they get more people to the website and thus more viewers and buyers of merchandise. I thought the match itself was very good.
ECW
MVP and Kennedy defeat The Hardy Boyz
This match did nothing for me at all. I repeat, where are the old Hardy Boyz? MVP was the star of this show and he really did a great job selling and giving. The interaction before, during and after the match between Porter and Matt Hardy was just great. The match itself was rather quirky.
Michelle McCool and Kelly Kelly vs. Melina and Layla
The good girls won and we got to put more heat on the female match at Survivor Series. There was nothing great to this match and thank god Melina was there to hold everything together. It did do its job, so props for that.
TNA
LAX vs. Hoyt/Rave
I was surprised to see Hoyt and Rave pick up the win here but if a feud is continuing with a pay off at a PPV down the line then it makes sense. The double team moves by both teams were just so in sync and so amazing in this match I couldn’t believe the competitors timing. This was a very solid bout all in all and I am excited to see where it all goes.
Team 3D Promo and
The Promo by 3D was the worst promo ever given I think in the history of the
Roode and Brooks vs. Kim and Harris.
The only time I enjoyed this match was when Kim was in the ring. Harris and Roode have lost a lot of steam. As for the match itself, it was blah at best.
Tomko/Styles interview
This was one of the best things on the card. Styles’ pleading to Christian was absolutely hysterical. I love these two guys. They work well together and I think if they lose Christian they will be a lot more credible.
Hall and Nash Promo and TNA Impact ending
The Promo in the middle of the show was short and two……………..sweet! I really liked how Nash and Hall presented themselves throughout the entire show, even the phone calls and backstage stuff was well done. The melee at the end with Samoa Joe was done quite well. I was actually surprised to see Samoa Joe in there at the end as I expected Booker T or Sting originally.
Abyss/Rhino and Black Reign/Relic
This wasn’t a tag match. Originally it was a really solid three way bout that had a handicap match feel to it. The reason I include it here is because with the addition of Rhino I think we have two brand new tag teams made and a hot contest on the way. This was the first match/angle I enjoyed Dustin Rhodes in. I thought everybody really worked hard to build this feud up and in a quick way.

The females – This is for all the women working tag matches this week in TNA or WWE, they all worked really hard whether it was inter gender or a regular bout.
The Tag Team of the Week Award is a tie this week. I am giving it to both Miz and Morrison for a great match and a great win as well as Hall and Nash for great storytelling.
The Best Tag Match of the Week Award was really hard to decide this week. The LAX match was great; as was the tag championship on Smackdown but for my money this award goes to the three way WWE.com match.
