Whenever Wrestlemania creeps around the corner the water cooler talk begins…Who will win the title? Who will be in the Money in the Bank Ladder match? Will Undertaker finally lose? What will the Showstopper do to stop the show? Who’s got the McMahon beat down card this year…and through it all I can honestly say I’ve never been caught dead in this cooler discussion. I’ve always strayed away from it because I never wanted to be one of two things…really disappointed…or not surprised at all. However, this year is really intriguing and I think it could be an amazing show. I also am not waiting till two weeks before the big event to start the discussion as it is much more interesting right now.
This article is by no means at all what I think will really happen on the show. I know I don’t own a seat on WWE creative so I’m pretty sure they won’t take my advice…but hey if they want to cater to me…J Croyle…….hailing from MADISON………Wisconsin….(Sorry had to do it, props to Ken Kennedy)….than by all means WWE steal my ideas and make me the happiest wrestling fan of all time.
So then….below is the card of Wrestlemania 24 if I were to book it and how we would end up there.
Money in the Bank Ladder Match:
Participants: Matt Hardy, Kane,
Winner: Matt Hardy
How we’d get there: Of all the matches I think this one would just be thrown together. As you’ll see later there is a reason why I’d have this match. It would be cool however if Raw, Ecw and Smackdown all had a beat the clock challenge or King of the Ring style tournament in an episode of Smackdown after No Way Out occurs to determine the 6 participants of the match. Most would expect a Batista win here but instead Hardy would take the case.
Tag Team Title Unification Gauntlet Match
Participants: Wang/Yang, Deuce/Domino, Miz/Morrison, Cade/ Murdoch, Rhodes/Holly, Jesse/Festus, London/Kendrick. The Highlanders, Santino/Carlito and The Edge Heads
Winners:
How we’d get there: Over the course of the next two months Raw’s tag talent would start coming to ECW and Smackdown events, interrupting the tag matches…any tag matches. Edge would eventually decide enough is enough after Santino and Carlito stop the Edge heads from winning the Smackdown tag straps at no way out in a three way dance against Wang, Yang, Miz and Morrison. Edge would talk to Vicki, Vicki would get Vince’s ear and Vince would decide he doesn’t want to deal with it anymore and make the mania match a unification match.
Ric Flair vs. HHH (Flair’s Retirement on the line)
Participants: HHH and Ric Flair (w/Arn
Winner: It would end in a time limit Draw and Flair would do a live farewell retirement speech
How we’d get there: At No Way Out during the elimination chamber match for the #1 contender ship HHH will be in trouble. Flair will come down to assist the game but somehow muck it all up and actually help H lose, and Jeff Hardy win. It will be a mistake but it will be one that HHH finds unforgivable. H will turn heel the next night on Raw and seemingly take Flair out of commission for good. However, a week before Mania HHH will here a Whoooo! Over the loud speaker just as he is about to beat some other guy in the ring and the two will go toe to toe leading to the Mania match. There, the match will go a full hour long and in the end be a draw. Dusty will be added for a legendary flavor. After the match the three will hug and all will be well and Flair will say his goodbyes.
Shawn Michaels vs. Y2J (Submission Match)
Participants: Shawn and
Winner:
How we’d get there:
The McMahon Mania Match
Participants: Hornswoggle, Finlay, Vince and Shane…as well as Stephanie as guest ref.
Winner: Vince and Shane
How we’d get there: Basically all this stuff between Vince and Finlay would come to a head. We’d find out the deal was supposed to be that Finlay helped Horny win the Rumble and for his efforts Finlay was to get a Smackdown World Title Shot. Since Finlay didn’t secure Horny’s win he wouldn’t have done his bit for Queen and Country. Finlay and Horny would challenge Vince after multiple promo’s backstage antics and vignettes over the next two months and Vince would take Shane as his partner. Now usually Vince looses at mania, but this time Horny would cheat at the end to help his brother and father and all three would beat down Finlay.
IC/US Title Unification match
Participants: MVP and Umaga
Winner: MVP
How we’d get there: At No Way Out Matt hardy would come back to finally cap off his feud against MVP in the match that steals the No Way Out PPV. However, Matt would lose when MVP cheats to win. Jeff would win the Elimination Chamber match the same night and then on Monday tell the fans he needs to concentrate on his upcoming title match at Mania. He would put the IC title up for grabs. A 20 man battle royal across all three bands would happen at a Raw and then Umaga would win. MVP would turn face by helping Lillian Garcia unexpectedly after she is being tormented in the ring by the Samoan Bulldozer. Thus leading to a unification match at Mania. As soon as the match at Mania is over MVP would go out side and level Lillian to the floor…making him go back to his heel ways immediately for no reason whatsoever.
ECW Title: hardcore rules
Participants: Chavo and Tommy Dreamer
Winner: Tommy Dreamer
How we’d get there: Armando would say that there isn’t
T anyone left in ECW who hasn’t either had the title or a chance at it. Chavo would start running down the original ECW. Tommy would come out to a huge fanfare and ask for a match. Armando would make it for NOW. At the PPV, Chavo would cheat to win but Armando would give Dreamer a second chance at Mania but this time it would be by the rules of the original ECW. Dreamer would end up a bloody mess but win in the end.
Women’s Championship: Lumber Jill match
Participants: All the diva’s but specifically Candice and Beth Phoenix
Winner: Candice Michele
How we’d get there: Candice would take forever getting back from IR and of course shooting her Go Daddy commercials. Maria would be set to take on Beth at mania in a lumber Jill match (promoting Playboy of course) but right before the match would be set to go, Beth would do a number on Maria backstage thinking she wouldn’t have to fight at all. Regal would say a line about the “show going on” and Candice would be there to fight Beth and win the title back.
WWE Championship
Participants: Randy Orton, John Cena, and Jeff Hardy
Winner: Jeff Hardy
How we’d get there: Jeff would win the elimination chamber match at NWO. Randy would defeat Cena. Somehow Cena would get his way back into the Mania match. Maybe by doing a dirty job for Regal but under duress. The match would become a three way dance, first fall wins. Randy would get FU’d by Cena but just as he goes for the cover, Jeff would Swanton both of them as the count is coming down. Jeff would then pin either of them to win the gold.
Main Event: World Championship
Participants: Edge and Undertaker
Winner: Matt Hardy (you’ll see)
How we’d get there: If Edge has a title match at No Way Out he’d retain. Undertaker would become the number one contender after defeating Henry, Batista and his brother Kane in a four way match on the NWO card. Edge would deliver the first ever defeat to UT at Mania but just as the party gets started Matt Hardy would cash in his money in the bank and take it right to Edge. Matt would get in trouble but Lita would make a surprise appearance trying to make sure Edge didn’t lose (insert Vicki in that role if need be). The ref would get confused and Jeff would show up…The Hardy’s would hit a twist of fate/Swanton combo while the ref’s back is turned and Matt Hardy is your new World Champion. WM24 would go off the air with Jeff and Matt hugging in the ring in one of the most memorable moments in history.
