PPV BY THE NUMBERS: TNA AGAINST ALL ODDS

By Joel C Croyle on 2/9/2008 6:47 PM

This weekend TNA will be having one of its big Pay Per Views and as usual I am here to help you decide if you should buy it or not.  So let’s get right to it, shall we?

TNA World Heavyweight Championship

Christian Cage vs. Kurt Angle ( Samoa Joe as Special Enforcer)

All the men in this bout have had dealings with each other over the past year or more.  It always is either a good match or a great match.  I think that whatever happens it will hinge on Samoa Joe.  He is the odd man out and he has the ability to do a lot here.  Personally, I would love to see Angle lose to Cage and then see Joe, Styles or Steiner have a match with Cage at the next PPV but I just don’t see it happening.  It should be a fair bout and I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see all those I mentioned get involved (Throw in Tomko and Karen too) somehow.

4 out of 5 Olympic Slams

TNA Women’s Championship

Kong vs. ODB

The women of TNA have been the absolute highlight of the entire organization in the past 6 months and honestly I wish they had their own TV program to showcase their talents under the TNA banner.  This will be the match of the night and don’t be at all surprised to see ODB take the title.  Also be sure she’ll cheat to win…maybe a little help from a friend?

5 out 5 Olympic Slams

6 man Street fight

This bout will feature Team 3D and Devine vs. The MCMG and Lethal.  It could be an excellent match as it is right up the alley of 3D.  This is the match to me that has had the best sell throughout the last month on TNA and now the teams need to pay it off.  I think The Dud’s are a lock to win this thing and Devine will get the pin to put him over.

4.5 out of 5 Olympic Slams

Barbwire Massacre

Mesias vs. Abyss

These two are good with the blood and the brooding but this will play second fiddle to the 6 man match with 3D.  These guys have been like cartoon characters the past year or so and Mitchell is absolutely no help.  I am fairly positive we will see Mesias go over and I also think it will be a train wreck.

1 out of 5 Olympic Slams

TNA World Tag Team Championship

BJ James and his daddy vs. Styles and Tomko

Styles and Tomko have been high on the highlight list of TNA and are a great team.  However, I think they may part ways.  This will be a fun match but it won’t be spectacular because of all who is involved.  Believe this…BJ James and Armstrong or going to win so that Tomko and Styles can go back to being singles guys and also so BJ and Kip can feud in the tag division.

3 out of 5 Olympic Slams

Booker T vs. Roode

This will be short and sweet.  I’m sure the females may get involved, including Booker’s wife.  This match is made for Booker to keep over his character.  Roode will get buried.  It may be a good contest though.

2.5 out of 5 Olympic Slams

James Storm vs. Eric Young

Look for this to be the best technical contest on the card and the absolute surprise of the night.  Young and Storm are fantastic entertainers who are underutilized by the TNA franchise.  Storm will lose and maybe even tap out or something.

4 out of 5 Olympic Slams

Payton Banks vs. Terri Brooks

It won’t be a technical spot fest.  I don’t think we will see figure four leg locks and sharpshooters, but hey this might just get the house rockin’!

2 out of 5 Olympic Slams

Overall:

There will be some really good matches on this card and maybe a few storyline surprises but it won’t be as good as the last or next two WWE events; No Way Out and Wrestlemania.  It just doesn’t have the build or the greatness to really put it over.  Save your money and order Wrestlemania in a few weeks!
