THE CHIKARA REPORT: LOOKING AT THEIR RETURN TO PHILLY, EASTON AND MORE

By Joshua Higham on 11/11/2010 5:13 PM

EASTON, PA PREVIEW!

Chikara presents Scornucopia

November 20, 2010 at the Palmer Center in Easton, PA. 7PM Belltime.

To prove that Chikara is in a better place now, current Director of Fun Dieter VonSteigerwalt offered to allow former Director of Fun and current commentator Leonard F. Chikarason to book the final show in Easton for 2010. The only rule was that Chikarason cannot book any title matches, but VonSteigerwalt has since inserted one. With Evolve running in New Jersey, Chikarason has been handicapped in his booking by certain talents (Helios, Chuck Taylor, Johnny Gargano, etc.) having other commitments. So with these limitations, Chikarason decided to visit the past while trying not to neglect the future.

Golden Dream Elimination 8-Man Tag Match
Hallowicked, Arik Cannon, Jigsaw, and Fire Ant vs. Vin Gerard, Stigma, Tim Donst, and Max Boyer

One match. Eight former Young Lions Cup holders. The Golden Dream tradition returns with a match not unlike a traditional Survivor Series match. It features Arik Cannon’s first Chikara appearance since King of Trios, the unretirement of Max Boyer, and Fire Ant’s return from the broken face. Another interesting twist is, for the first time, a BDK member (Tim Donst) forced to team with members of Chikara. Tensions will surely arise on the rudo team, since Tim Donst has already promised in a recent blog that this match will prove his YLC dominance since he plans to take out his teammates after he takes out his opponents.

3.0 (Scott “Jagged” Parker and Shane Matthews) vs. Los Ice Creams

3.0 had long been considered a joke, going back to when they were 2.0 and incognito as the Badd Boys. But they’ve ditched the denim, hit a hot streak, received the 3 points, and challenged Ares and Castagnoli in Baltimore in September. They came up short, but along the way, they proved any detractors wrong. In Easton, they look to take the first step to challenging for the Campeonatos de Parejas again when they take on the devious Los Ice Creams, returning to Chikara for the first time since King of Trios.

The Osirian Portal vs. Obariyon and Kodama

The Portal unsuccessfully challenged Claudio Castagnoli and Ares for the Campeonatos de Parejas in Connecticut in October, losing two straight falls. Like 3.0, they must start back at the bottom to earn another title shot. Their first obstacle is the mysterious tag team of Obariyon and Kodama, who won their first point last time in Easton when they defeated the Super Smash Brothers. Obariyon debuted at Young Lions Cup in August, and Kodama joined Obariyon in tag team action in Baltimore in September. They’ve been impressive, they’ve been scary, and they’ll be a tall order for the Funky Pharaoh and Serpent from the Nile.

“Blast from the Past” Eight-Man Tag Team Match
UltraMantis Black, Jolly Roger, Dragon Fly, Mister Zero vs. Icarus, Lance Steel, Darkness Crabtree, Rorschach

Two of Chikara’s originals captain teams of resurrected wrestlers from Chikara’s past. Long-time fans are sure to be pleased with the returns of these former stars.

Dasher Hatfield vs. Buck Hawke

Dasher Hatfield, the Old Timey King of Swing, scored the biggest win of his career against the Big Rig, Brodie Lee, last time in Easton. Then, he lost to the Littlest Lumberjack, Grizzly Redwood, the next day. In Easton, he will face the returning Buck Hawke, one-third of the Fabulous Three. We saw his old trios partner, Larry Sweeney, return at the Dark Ciberknetico, but is Buck Hawke back in Chikara for good?

Young Lions Cup Match
Frightmare vs. Lince Dorado

The Director of Fun, Dieter vonSteigerwalt, announced in a recent blog that he is adding a match for the Young Lions Cup in an attempt to add “some luster” to Chikara’s return to Easton, PA. So who better to challenge than the golden boy of the BDK, Lince Dorado? A family issue forced Dorado missed his scheduled match with Frightmare in Easton, so he will get it this month. This rematch of the Young Lions Cup finals might be Dorado’s last chance, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the deck is stacked in his favor.

The S & S Express (Sugar Dunkerton and Da Soul Touchaz) vs. The BDK (Daizee Haze, Pink Ant, Ares, and Tursas)
Da Soul Touchaz have been making quite the name for themselves this year in Chikara, defeating the reigning King of Trios in Michigan in June. Sugar Dunkerton is returning for a tour of Ireland with Irish Whip Wrestling. The BDK is sure to want some revenge from Da Soul Touchaz after the loss in Michigan (suffered by Castagnoli, Ares, and Tursas) and a loss in New York (suffered by Tursas, Dorado, and Donst).
