In what could easily be the biggest card the Bellator Fighting Championships has ever put on will be taking place this Friday Night. The main event is going to be between former Bellator Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez and Japanese legend Shinya Aoki. The preliminary card will be taking place first though, with this one featuring a few UFC veterans and top female competitors.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as “Smokin†Joe Heiland (6-1-0) competes against Julian “Nitrane†Lane (3-0-0). Joe Heiland started off his MMA career in impressive fashion with a five fight winning streak, with his lone career loss coming to Bellator veteran Daniel Straus. Julian Lane is an undefeated fighter who has yet to see any of his three fights go past the second round. This is a great opportunity for both fighters, but it will be Joe Heiland ending the undefeated streak in the end.
We remain in the lightweight division for the next fight as Tyler “The Tyrant†Combs (13-9-0) does battle with Jason “Dynamite†Dent (21-12-0). Tyler Combs enters the fight trying to end a three fight losing streak, with one loss coming to WEC veteran Jamie Varner. Jason Dent is a UFC veteran who also enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak, last achieving victory in June 2009. This is a make or break fight for both competitors, but it will be Jason Dent ending his losing streak on Friday Night.
We drop to the featherweight division for the next fight as Frank “The Tank†Caraballo (8-4-0) stands across the cage from Donny “Eagle Eye†Walker (15-8-0). Frank Caraballo is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Dustin Kempf at Bellator 51. Donny Walker is a UFC veteran who is competing for the first time since being released from the UFC late last year. This will be a major fight for Donny Walker, but he will find a way to pull out the victory when it is all said and done.
Light heavyweight fighters will be featured next as John “Big†Hawk (6-4-0) battles Marcus Vanttinen (21-3-0). John Hawk has split his two fights thus far in Bellator, defeating Allan Weickert and suffering a defeat to Roger Hollett. Marcus Vanttinen is a well-traveled MMA veteran who has achieved victories over known fighters like Edwin Dewees and Ron Faircloth. This fight will be the coming out party for Marcus Vanttinen, as he achieves the victory on Friday Night.
Up next is another light heavyweight division fight as Dan “Dragon†Spohn (6-1-0) faces Attila “Pumukli†Vegh (24-4-0). Dan Spohn has split both of his Bellator fights, defeating Dane Bonnigson and suffering a defeat to Kelvin Tiller. Attila Vegh enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, but this fight will mark his North American MMA debut. This fight will be a lot closer than most people probably think, but it will be Attila Vegh pulling out the victory.
Headlining this portion of the card is a women’s flyweight division fight as Jessica “Evil†Eye (6-1-0) takes on Anita “El Tigre†Rodriguez (5-2-0). Jessica Eye is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Casey Noland at Bellator 51. Anita Rodriguez is currently undefeated in 2012, having defeated Lizbeth Carreiro at King Of The Cage: Total Destruction. This fight could determine a spot in a future tournament, but it will be Jessica Eye getting the duke in the end.
